Remembering Hadayatullah Hübsch

An event will be held on January 8th in Frankfurt, Germany on the first death anniversary. He will be remembered as a poet, literate and a devout Muslim who never tired of searching and working.

Hadayatullah Hübsch (born on January 8th, 1946 in Chemnitz  – died on January 4, 2011; born as Paul-Gerhard Hübsch) was a German author, journalist, activist of the 68s movement and long-time spokesman of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Germany. From 1992 to 2000 he was chairman of the Association of German Writers (VdS) in Hesse. In his last years he worked as a writer in Frankfurt, Germany.

He is remembered on his death anniversary by many Newspapers, such as Frankfurter Rundschau “he was a “spoken-word-poet” long before this term became popular.”

He was also remembered in the first “Hadayatullah Hübsch memorial beat” in Frankfurt on January 4th. This memorial was first of this kind and that means every year we will remember a person who had a long path as a poet and an activist to a peace loving and a devout Ahmadi-Muslim and Imam of Nur-Mosque in Frankfurt, till his last breath.

  1. Inna lilla he wa inna alaehe rajeoon.

We all are from Allah and to Him we all return!

We have so many thoughts on such occasions and it is so difficult to put them into words.

One of the many aspects of Hadayatullah Huebsch was that not only was he an example as a Muslim and as a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, but at the same time he had his circle of German friends and was as such part of the German as well as of the Muslim communities. This ‘bridge’ between the communities is so essential these days (and becoming more so)…
