AMYA’s Remembrance day ” Poppy Campaign “

Muslims for Remembrance!

(Toronto November 10, 2011): Muslims youth will be standing outside mosques across Canada on Friday November 11th to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by Canadians and to collect money for the Poppy Appeal. The sermons from the pulpit will echo  their message of loyalty to country and responsibilities of a good citizen.
Hundreds of volunteers will be stationed at entrances of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mosques across Canada, that include Canada’s largest mosque Baitun Nur, in Calgary, and the organization’s head office at Baitul Islam Mosque in Maple, Ontario. Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association will be helping to raise thousands of dollars for the Canadian Legion as a mark of respect and to adhere to the Islamic edict of demonstrating loyalty to your country.
The Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: “Muslims are obliged to be loyal to the  country in which they live. Honouring those who fought to defend and safeguard one’s country is an important principle of Islam and in fact is an important principle of peace – especially when it is carried out with a sincere heart and for the sake of winning God’s pleasure.”
This year Remembrance Day falls on Friday – the holiest day of the week. “From coast to coast – at every Ahmadiyya Muslim Mosque,  you will hear a message of peace and remembrance” said Lal Khan Malik, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Canada. “We are indebted to our soldiers for their sacrifices so that we enjoy freedom today. We remain committed to their cause” he added.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is a leader in various humanitarian services. Each year it arranges many programs such as Blood Donor Clinics, Food Bank services, New Year’s Day clean up in major cities, hospital fundraisers, feeding the less fortunate  on Christmas Day, and various other charitable services –

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is proud to add the Poppy Campaign to its list of community service.
