Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth were gathered for a three-day retreat at the Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area in Stouffville, Ontario.
Delegates took time to break the world record of human formation of a Smiley Face.
With weather turning hot, organizers were concerned how long it would take to gather everyone and make them stay for ten minutes in the smiley-face formation required by the Guinness World Records body.
“In the end, it took just thirty minutes to gather 2,961 participants and another ten minutes to break the world record,” said Rizwan Rabbani, coordinator of the record-breaking attempt. “Everyone was ecstatic at the achievement,” he added.
Members of the Provincial Legislature, Federal Parliament and President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community were at hand to witness the record-breaking attempt.
In her comments, Honourable Dr. Helena Jaczek MPP appreciated the spirit of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth and said that the attempt to break this record is embodiment of the Community’s motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None.”
Honourable Judy Sgro MP conveyed her regard for the Community and read out the message from Honourable Bob Rae MP, the interim leader of the Federal Liberal Party.
“While we reach to Canadian society with interfaith dialogue and other religious events, breaking this world record is one way to dispel myths about Islam and present its peaceful face to the World,” said Lal Khan Malik, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada.
