Urdu debates: Futility of Implementation of Shariah Law: To be or not to be?

Suggested Reading by Zia H Shah MD, Chief Editor of the Muslim Times to make Pakistan a genuine constitutional democracy

I stand for secularism, human rights and interfaith tolerance in every country of the world and that I believe is the greatest line of service to humanity that I have been relentlessly pursuing for the last 12 years, by the Grace of Allah.

Analyzing the recent political events in Pakistan, it’s sovereignty is obviously threatened every time US dreams of a regime change in Pakistan. But, how can we avoid that, we need multiple steps. A strong army and a strong economy are two obvious needs.

But we also need a strong, honest and non-partisan judiciary. Here, I suggest that there should be Supreme Court for day to day issues and a Constitutional Supreme Court that follows the style of US Supreme Court and justices enjoy all the perks and responsibilities of US Supreme Court, then the future of Pakistan will depend on what they will create for us and nation’s responsibility will be to get the best and non-partisan judges there.

In addition to constitutional issues that we saw recently they can examine Pakistan Army’s over reach into the internal affairs, blasphemy laws and much more. A genuine and honorable institute that creates the future or “Naya Pakistan.”

My main suggestion to the open minded readers is to read on and in the words of Sir Francis Bacon, “Read not to contradict … but to weigh and consider.”

The following collection in unison should give a reader a wholesome view of the situation and issues at hand.
