Eric Trump Trip Cost Taxpayers $97K

According to a report in The Washington Post, Eric Trump went to Uruguay in early January for a trip to promote the Trump Organization. It ended up costing U.S. taxpayers nearly $100,000 in hotel rooms for Secret Service and embassy staff. During the trip, Trump reportedly mingled with real estate brokers in the area and spoke to a number of people at a Trump Tower Punta del Este evening party. The bill for the hotel rooms for the Secret Service totaled $88,320, according to the report. The U.S. Embassy in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay, agreed to pay an additional $9,510 for its staff to stay in hotel rooms as well.
