Youth members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Nigeria will converge in Akure, the Ondo State capital to reflect on salient issues on the Nigerian nationhood, especially as it concerns the nation’s youths. The annual convention themed, ‘100 Years of Nigeria: Concerns on Youth Development’ will hold between April 17th  and  20th  , 2014 at the St. Peters Unity Secondary School, Oba Adesida Road, Akure.

Thus, the idea behind  the  choice   of  this  year’s  theme    is the need to review the participation of youths in the development of Nigeria since the country just celebrated 100 years of existence.”

Abdul-Rafi  also   explained  that Ahmadiyya Youth Organization believes that youth development is a collective issue involving stakeholders such as governments, individuals, parents and the society at large. “I would not say a group has done their best, it’s all about everybody not doing enough and when a group didn’t bring out its best, it would affect the other groups. We feel there is still a lot to be done by all stakeholders. Parents, government and religious organizations in achieving adequate goals for the Nigerian youths. That is our main focus during this year’s convention. We want to extend our own little effort to develop the Nigerian youths.” He added.

Discussions at the convention are expected to underscore the role of youths as crucial agents in nation-building and national development, with the lead paper  tagged ‘100 years of Nigeria : Concerns on youth development’ to be  delivered by an erudite Islamic scholar and university don, Alhaji Dr… read more at mydailynewswatchng.com
