Exposing Creationism of Zakir Naik, Tahir ul Qadari, Yusuf Estes and Harun Yahya

Charles Darwin tree of life poster

Charles Darwin tree of life, linking all life forms also implies that 30 million life forms have come about by survival of the fittest and suffering along the way has created beauty and elegance

Written and collected by Zia H Shah MD, Chief Editor of the Muslim Times

I believe that the theory of evolution should be understood as three different issues. Firstly, the common ancestry of all animals and plants, secondly, the mechanisms for evolution and thirdly whether evolution is completely blind or guided in some sense. The truth of some facts in evolution does not imply the truth of every thing under the umbrella of evolution. The common ancestry of all animals and plants on our planet is a fact, which is beyond any doubt, for those well versed in the field of biology, especially molecular biology.  One needs to have a nuance position about evolution to be perfectly enlightened. The implications that common lineage has for the Creator or lack there of, is metaphysics and not science and for discussing science, we should limit ourselves to discussion of common ancestry.

Given the lack of information and knowledge of the Muslim masses, the Mullahs can choose to say whatever catches their fancy. So, collecting their follies in this article will serve no useful purpose. But, here I want to highlight the short comings of the generally respected writers and Islamic scholars, who enjoy certain popularity or have otherwise written well about religion of Islam and about science and religion.

However, many of them are not knowledgeable about the issues of evolution, but, feel perfectly comfortable commenting about it, banking on the ignorance and blind devotion of their followers.

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam andcomparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF),[1][2] He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist.[3][4] Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a medical doctor.[4] He has published booklet versions of lectures on Islam and comparative religion. Although he has publicly disclaimed sectarianism in Islam, he is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology.[5][6][7]

Naik has said that the theory of evolution is “only a hypothesis, and an unproven conjecture at best”.[22] According to Naik, most scientists “support the theory, because it went against the Bible – not because it was true.”[23]

I link these videos to demonstrate dogmatic criticism by Zakir Naik, who would begin to look completely ignorant in light of modern molecular biology, as it establishes common ancestry of all life forms on planet earth.

The common ancestry of all life forms on our planet is an established fact now, which is beyond any doubt, in light of the latest information, coming from several fields of inquiry, especially molecular biology.

I suggest two articles for those who do not yet know of the merit of scientific evidence in this regard:

Biogeography: One of the best proofs for Darwin-Wallace theory of evolution

Molecular Biology: A Checkmate to Creationism

May I suggest that the Muslim scholars will read more before commenting on scientific issues or at least seek expert advice.

Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri (Urdu: محمد طاہر القادری‎) (born 19 February 1951) is a Pakistani politician, former law professor and Sufi Islamic scholar.[3][4] He was a former professor of international constitutional law at theUniversity of the Punjab.[5] Qadri is also the founding chairman of Minhaj-ul-Quran International.

Here is what Prof. Tahir ul Qadari has to say about theory of evolution:

Adnan Oktar (born 1956), also known as Harun Yahya,[1] is a Turkish author referred to as “the biggest propagator of ijaz literature[2] as well as an Islamic creationist.[3] In 2007, he sent thousands of unsolicited copies of his book, Atlas of Creation,[4] which advocates Islamic creationism, to American scientists, members of Congress, and science museums.[5] Oktar runs two organizations of which he is also the Honorary President: Bilim Araştırma Vakfı (literally, “Science Research Foundation”, BAV, established 1990), which promotes creationism and Milli Değerleri Koruma Vakfı (literally, “National Values Preservation Foundation”, established 1995) which works domestically on a variety of “moral issues.”[6]

Harun Yahya in his otherwise useful book titled,  Creation of the Universe, also commits the error of denying of evolution of ape-like animals into humans, which in light of latest findings in molecular biology and genetics is being increasingly recognized, as a fact in scientific circles.  Yahya writes:

The subject most often brought up by advocates of the theory of evolution is the subject of the origin of man.  The Darwinist claim holds that man evolved from  so called ape-like creatures.  During this alleged evolutionary process, which is supposed to have started 4-5 million years ago, some “transitional forms” between man and his imaginary ancestors are supposed to have existed. According to this completely imaginary scenario, four basic “categories” are listed:

1. Australopithecus
2. Homo habilis
3. Homo erectus
4. Homo sapiens

Evolutionists call man’s so-called first ape-like ancestors Australopithecus, which means “South African ape.” These living beings are actually nothing but an old ape species that has become extinct. Extensive research done on various Australopithecus specimens by two world famous anatomists from England and the USA, namely, Lord Solly Zuckerman and Prof. Charles Oxnard, shows that these apes belonged to an ordinary ape species that became extinct and bore no resemblance to humans.[1]

Harun Yahya’s dogmatic denial of relationship between apes and human beings exposes only his ignorance, specifically in the domain of genetics and molecular biology.

All the proofs that creationists offer for the improbabilities that have gone into making our universe biophyllic or in the creation of individual life forms or organs can serve only as argument for guided evolution, once the similarities are shown in genetic materials of closely related animals including apes and human beings.  These similarities not only exist in the genome but extend to all proteins and other constituents of life, which have been examined so far.

Prof. James Al Khalili writes in an article, It’s time to herald the Arabic science that prefigured Darwin and Newton:

We read in most accounts of the history of science that the contribution of the ancient Greeks would not be matched until the European Renaissance and the arrival of the likes of Copernicus and Galileo in the 16th century. The 1,000-year period sandwiched between the two is dismissed as the dark ages. But the scientists and philosophers whom Ma’mun brought together, and whom he entrusted with his dreams of scholarship and wisdom, sparked a period of scientific achievement that was just as important as the Greeks or Renaissance, and we cannot simply project the European dark ages on to the rest of the world.

He specifically writes about a Muslim Zoologist:

But what surprises many even more is that a ninth-century Iraqi zoologist by the name of al-Jahith developed a rudimentary theory of natural selection a thousand years before Darwin. In his Book of Animals, Jahith speculates on how environmental factors can affect the characteristics of species, forcing them to adapt and then pass on those new traits to future generations.

Yusuf Estes (born in 1944) is an American Muslim preacher and teacher who converted from Christianity to Islam in 1991. He was a Muslim Chaplain for the United States Bureau of Prisons through the 1990s.[1] He was a Muslim delegate to the United Nations World Peace Conference for Religious Leaders held at the U.N. in September 2000.[1]

Active in Islamic missionary work in the United States, Estes is often featured as guest presenter and keynote speaker at various Islamic events as well as frequently appearing on various Islamic satellite TV channels. Estes was named as the #1 Islamic Personality of the Year at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award ceremony on 8 August 2012.[2]

Let us remember that the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace be on him, said:

To acquire knowledge is the duty of every Muslim man and woman.

The ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr.

So, every Muslim should seek knowledge and hesitate to make tall, dogmatic claims, without studying the issues at hand, in some depth.

  1. Intelligent Design on Trial: a Documentary

In this two-hour special, NOVA captures the turmoil that tore apart the community of Dover, Pennsylvania in one of the latest battles over teaching evolution in public schools. Featuring trial reenactments based on court transcripts and interviews with key participants, including expert scientists and Dover parents, teachers, and town officials, “Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial” follows the celebrated federal case of Kitzmiller v. Dover School District. This program was coproduced with Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Productions, Inc.

In 2004, the Dover school board ordered science teachers to read a statement to high school biology students suggesting that there is an alternative to Darwin’s theory of evolution called intelligent design–the idea that life is too complex to have evolved naturally and therefore must have been designed by an intelligent agent. The teachers refused to comply. Later, parents opposed to intelligent design filed a lawsuit in federal court accusing the school board of violating the constitutional separation of church and state.

“There was a blow-up like you couldn’t believe,” Bill Buckingham, head of the school board’s curriculum committee, tells NOVA. Buckingham helped formulate the intelligent-design policy when he noticed that the biology textbook chosen by teachers for classroom use was, in his words, “laced with Darwinism.”
NOVA presents the arguments by lawyers and expert witnesses in riveting detail and provides an eye-opening crash course on questions such as “What is evolution?” and “Is intelligent design a scientifically valid alternative?” Kitzmiller v. Dover was the first legal test of intelligent design as a scientific theory, with the plaintiffs arguing that it is a thinly veiled form of creationism, the view that a literal interpretation of the Bible accounts for all observed facts about nature.
During the trial, lawyers for the plaintiffs showed that evolution is one of the best-tested and most thoroughly confirmed theories in the history of science, and that its unresolved questions are normal research problems–the type that arise in any flourishing scientific field.

  2. I may not be correct, based on the Intelligent Design on Trial (a documentary) I remember to have seen a movie almost 40 years ago named “Inheritrit the Wind”.Please watch it if you have a chance.

  3. Do you think the book (Revealation Rationality) written by Mirza Tahir Ahmad ,RA (IV Khalifa of AMJ) also contains some material on the subject?

  4. How a muslim can ever study ,think or analyze when he busy taking caring of 10 children and 4 wives with no skills. He can be fooled easily No wonder mullahs want all convert to islam remain poor and uneducated all their life so they can be fooled and manipulated.

  5. Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.
Quran is mubeen i.e. which makes things clear and manifest
“A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation of a Qur’an that makes things clear (qur-anin mubeenin). ” [15:1]
“We have not instructed the (Prophet) in Poetry, nor is it meet for him: this is no less than a Message and a Qur’an making things clear: (qur-anun mubeenun)” [36:69]
Quran is noor-e-mubeen i.e. a light which makes things clear and manifest
” O mankind! verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest (nooran mubeenan)” [4:174]
Quran is kitaab-e-mubeen i.e. a book which makes things clear and manifest
” O people of the Book! There hath come to you our Messenger, revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book, and passing over much (that is now unnecessary): There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book, -(kitabun mubeenun) “[5:15]
“A.L.R. These are the symbols (or Verses) of the perspicuous Book. (alkitabi almubeenu)” [12:1]
“These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.(alkitabialmubeeni) ” [26:2]
“These are verses of the Qur’an,-a book that makes (things) clear; (kitabin mubeenin)” [27:1]
“These are Verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.(alkitabialmubeeni) ” [28:2]
“By the Book that makes things clear,- (Waalkitabi almubeeni)” [43:2, 44:2]
The verses of the Quran are “bayyinat”, i.e plain, clear, distinct and perspicuous
“We have sent down to thee Manifest Verses (ayatinbayyinatin); and none reject them but those who are perverse.[10:15]

Refutation of those who believe in human evolution
It’s explicitly mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah that Adam is the first human being and thus refuting human evolution.
“It is He Who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her in love” (7:189).
From these two individuals, generations of human beings have inhabited the earth. “Oh humankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honoured among you in the sight of Allah is the one who is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” (49:13).
And “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.”But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal.”And he swore [by Allah ] to them, “Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors.”So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?” They said, “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”[ Allah ] said, “Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time.” [7:19 -24]
The above verses clearly states that Allah created Adam from clay in Paradise. Then Adam and eve were sent to earth. Thus there is no human evolution.
“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.” [4:1]
“Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay. Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained.” [32:7,8]
The above verses clearly state that Adam was created from clay and that he was not born nor Adam was from a biological mating nor evolved from previous creatures.

He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate… [39:6]

Abu huraira reported; We were in the company of the Prophet Muhammad ( ) at a banquet and a cooked (mutton) forearm was set before him, and he used to like it. He ate a morsel of it and said, “I will be the chief of all the people on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know how Allah will gather all the first and the last (people) in one level place where an observer will be able to see (all) of them and they will be able to hear the announcer, and the sun will come near to them. Some People will say: Don’t you see, in what condition you are and the state to which you have reached? Why don’t you look for a person who can intercede for you with your Lord? Some people will say: Appeal to your father, Adam.’ They will go to him and say: ‘O Adam! You are the father of all mankind, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the angels to prostrate for you, and made you live in Paradise. Will you not intercede for us with your Lord? Don’t you see in what (miserable) state we are, and to what condition we have reached?’ On that Adam will reply, ‘My Lord is so angry as He has never been before and will never be in the future; (besides), He forbade me (to eat from) the tree, but I disobeyed (Him), (I am worried about) myself! Myself! Go to somebody else; go to Noah.’ They will go to Noah and say; ‘O Noah! You are the first amongst the messengers of Allah to the people of the earth, and Allah named you a thankful slave. Don’t you see in what a (miserable) state we are and to what condition we have reached? Will you not intercede for us with your Lord? Noah will reply: ‘Today my Lord has become so angry as he had never been before and will never be in the future Myself! Myself! Go to the Prophet ( ) (Muhammad). The people will come to me, and I will prostrate myself underneath Allah’s Throne. Then I will be addressed: ‘O Muhammad! Raise your head; intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask (for anything) for you will be given. ” [Bukhari book of prophets]
Abu huraira reported The Prophet ( ) said, “Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, “Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring.” So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, “As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi” (i.e. Peace and Allah’s Mercy be upon you).” [Bukhari]
Narrated Anas: The Prophet ( ) said, “Allah will say to that person of the (Hell) Fire who will receive the least punishment, ‘If you had everything on the earth, would you give it as a ransom to free yourself (i.e. save yourself from this Fire)?’ He will say, ‘Yes.’ Then Allah will say, ‘While you were in the backbone of Adam, I asked you much less than this, i.e. not to worship others besides Me, but you insisted on worshipping others besides me.” [Bukhari – book of prophets]
Prophet stated that Allah the Most High created Adam and He created Eve from his short rib. [Sunan Ibn Majah]
Abdullah Ibn Abbas reported that Prophet said; “Eve was created from Adam’s shortest left rib when he was sleeping in paradise and then she was clothed with flesh. Adam named her hawwa as she was created from Adam and he was a living being.” [Ibn Ishaq & Ibn Kathir]
Ibn Umar said that Adam and eve descended to earth from paradise and were descended on safa and marwa. [Ibn Abi Hatim]
The above narrations explicitly prove that Adam and eve were created in paradise and that Adam has no parents thus the first human. Then they were sent to earth.
Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Messenger of Allah said: “Indeed Allah Most High created Adam from a handful that He took from all of the earth. [Tirmidhi]
As the Qur’an at another place (Aal Imraan 3: 59) tells us that Adam was directly produced from clay (earth) and was not born to a father and a mother. “Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was.”[3:59]
In another verse Almighty Allah Proclaims:
“Allah made all things He created excellent; and He began the creation of man from clay. Then He made his offspring from the extract of base fluid; then He fashioned and breathed into him of His Spirit; and gave you hearing and sight and the faculty of inferring. And yet how little are the thanks you offer!” (Al-Quran, ch 32:7-9)
The above verses clearly prove that Adam was created from clay and he was not born to any parents or biological species thus negating human evolution.
Those deviant sects who believe in human evolution clearly contradict the Quran and Sunnah. They claim that all verses and hadith regarding creation of Adam is metaphor. But this assumption is wrong as Allah says that the Quran is clear and plain book. Also the Quran uses many linguistic manner and adjectives and nouns that explicitly state that Adam was the first human being created from dust and that humanity come from him. Therefore the Quran and Sunnah are so explicitly vivid about the creation of Adam from clay in heaven and his wife from him.
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. [18:1]
[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward. [18:2]
This (Quran) is a clear insight and evidence for mankind, and guidance and a mercy for people who have Faith with certainty. [45:20]
So those misguided sects that believe in human evolution and claim that the apparent meaning of the verses is not intended have a number of implications:
    1) some verses of the Quran seem to mislead and deceive humanity instead of guiding them
    2) that the Quran is not clear but rather vague and an ancient book of secrets and mystical book
    3) That Allah didn’t reveal the truth concerning the creation of humanity but rather hinted at them in such a couched and hidden way that the truth cannot be arrived except by distorting the meaning and contradicting the verses of the Quran and hadith
    4) That Allah required His servants not to believe in the apparent meanings of what He revealed but believe in the opposite of what the verses clearly state
    5) That Allah always revealed verses concerning the creation of Adam whose apparent meaning opposes the truth
    6) That the prophet didn’t clearly explain those verses about Adam’s creation but rather hid the truth
    7) That the beloved companions of prophet Muhammad didn’t understand these verses under topic since they never believed in human evolution
    8) That the beloved prophet wasn’t sincere in revealing the message of truth
    9) That human beings (including prophets) are offspring of animals rather than Adam and Eve
    10) The history of Adam and satan is a myth!
    11) That the creation of eve from Adam is a fiction!
    12) If human biological evolution was true it would imply that the Quran is apparently wrong! And that all relevant hadith are incorrect
    13) If those deviant sects’ claims are true, it would have been better to not have these verses under topic since the revelation of these verses has caused deception and doubts rather than guidance and certainty!
All praises and glory to Allah! Indeed Allah is most knowledgeable of His creation and is capable of clearly explaining His Quran than His creation!

  6. Parvez

    Peace be with you

You have a Nobel prize in medicine waiting for you. You seem to have “absolutely certain” information, from your reading and understanding of the Holy Quran and Hadith, about Adam and Eve.

All you have to do now, is to demonstrate the truth of what you have learnt, through biology and archaeology.

This should not be hard for a person with immense knowledge like yourself.

Incidentally, studying biology is not against the Holy Quran either. Most of us get to hear a verse of the Holy Quran, almost every Friday prayer:

Do they not then look at the camel, how it is created? (Al Quran 88:18)

Let me share some information with you about Neanderthals from Wikipedia:

The Neanderthals or Neandertals are an extinct species of human in the genus Homo, possibly a subspecies of Homo sapiens.[2] They are closely related to modern humans,[3][4] differing in DNA by only 0.3%, just twice the variability across contemporary humans.[5] Remains left by Neanderthals include bones and stone tools, which are found from western Europe to central Asia. The species is named after Neandertal (“Neander Valley”), the location in Germany where it was first discovered.
Neanderthals are classified either as a subspecies of Homo sapiens (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis) or as a separate species of the same genus (Homo neanderthalensis).[6] The first humans with proto-Neanderthal traits are believed to have existed in Europe as early as 600,000–350,000 years ago.[7]
The exact date of their extinction is disputed. Fossils found in the Vindija Cave in Croatia have been dated to between 33,000 and 32,000 years old, and Neanderthal artifacts from Gorham’s Cave in Gibraltar are believed to be less than 30,000 years old, but a recent study has redated fossils at two Spanish sites as 45,000 years old, 10,000 years older than previously thought, and may cast doubt on recent datings of other sites. Cro-Magnon (early-modern-human) skeletal remains showing some “Neanderthal traits” have been found in Lagar Velho (Portugal) and dated to 24,500 years ago, suggesting that there may have been an extensive admixture of the Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal populations in that region.[8]
Several cultural assemblages have been linked to the Neanderthals in Europe. The earliest, the Mousterian stone tool culture, dates to about 300,000 years ago.[9] Late Mousterian artifacts were found in Gorham’s Cave on the south-facing coast of Gibraltar.[10][11] Other tool cultures associated with the Neanderthals include the Châtelperronian, the Aurignacian, and the Gravettian; their tool assemblages appear to have developed gradually within their populations, rather than being introduced by new population groups arriving in the region.[12]
With an average cranial capacity of 1600cc [13] Neanderthal’s cranial capacity is known to be notably larger than all races of modern humans on average, indicating that their brain size was at least as large, if not larger. In 2008, a group of scientists produced a study using three-dimensional computer-assisted reconstructions of Neanderthal infants based on fossils found in Russia and Syria. The study indicated that Neanderthal and modern human brains were the same size at birth, but by adulthood, the Neanderthal brain was larger than the modern human brain.[14] They were much stronger than modern humans, having particularly strong arms and hands.[15] Males stood 164–168 cm (65–66 in) and females about 152–156 cm (60–61 in) tall.[16]
Genetic evidence published in 2010 suggests that Neanderthals contributed to the DNA of anatomically modern humans, probably through interbreeding between 80,000 and 50,000 years ago with the population of anatomically modern humans who had recently migrated from Africa. According to the study, by the time that population began dispersing across Eurasia, Neanderthals genes constituted as much as 1–4% of its genome (roughly equivalent to having one Neanderthal great-great-great-grandparent).[17][18][19] Ötzi the iceman, Europe’s oldest preserved mummy, was found to possess an even higher percentage of Neanderthal ancestry.[20]

Unlike Christianity, Adam and Eve being the first human couple is not one of the fundamentals beliefs of Islam, last time I checked.

Understanding common lineage of all life forms on our planet earth, changes all of Christianity into Islam, in a snap, only if closed minded Muslims are not dead sure of what their small minds think a given verse of the Holy Quran means.

Testimony of nature is very clear and unambiguous, Adam and Eve were not the first human couple. The Holy Quran cannot say anything that is against the clear verdict of the Book of Nature, for both come from the same Omniscient source.

    Darwinian Evolution: Islam or Christianity?

  7. the hadith is ver clear that Adam (as) was the first human.

Also quran states that humanity is from one soul (adam) and from adam was created eve. from both of them humanity.

this is agreed by the sahabas and early muslim scholars. the same scholars that wrote the quran, hadith, fiqh literature and seerah books.

  8. It is being presented that Quran makes all things clear:
    ——————————
It is true. So the peaceful passing away of hazrat Isa a.s. is also well explained by the word “tawaffa” which is used for the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. and Isa a.s. in the Quran. People should not have any doubt about that.

Now I present verses from the Quran about Adam a.s. not being the first man on earth. Please follow:

[2:35] And remember the time when We said to the angels: ‘Submit to Adam,’ and they all submitted. But Iblis did not. He refused and was too proud; and he was of the disbelievers.

Note the plural word “disbelievers”. It means there were others at that time who were disbelievers i.e. enemies of Adam a.s. Note the words “he was of the disbelievers.” Iblis is being referred to as “He”, and being one from the disbelievers.

[2:36] And We said: ‘O Adam, dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and eat therefrom plentifully wherever you will, but approach not this tree, lest you be of the wrongdoers.’

Note, again the plural word “wrongdoers.” It means there wrongdoers. Adam was not alone and he was not of the wrongdoers till then.

[2:37] But Satan caused them both to slip by means of it and drove them out of the state in which they were. And We said: ‘Go forth; some of you ( in plural) are enemies of others, and for you (Lakum) there is an abode in the earth and a provision for a time.
Note: Allah said some of you are enemy of others. Please see that there were others too. Also the word for provisions is not for one or two. It is for many of you.(lakum) i.e. plural, present. first party.

[2:38] Then Adam learnt from his Lord certain words of prayer. So He turned towards him with mercy. Surely, He is Oft-Returning with compassion, and is Merciful.
Note: This verse is clearly telling that Allah taught some words of repentance to Adam a.s. He (Adam a.s.) repented and he was forgiven. Allah turned towards Adam with mercy and forgave him.
So there is no affect of any original sin. Story of original sin is a false story. There is no original sin in Quran. Nothing remained of any sin. It was actually a mistake, not an intentional sin. That was also forgiven.

[2:39] We said: ‘Go forth, all of you, from here. And whenever there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoso shall follow My guidance, on them shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve.’
Note: Allah said, “Go forth, all of you.” Note the word “All of you”. It means more than two.
The pronoun used about the coming of guidance is not for one person or two. It is addressed to many.
It says whenever guidance come to you (many of you)…

The above verses of the Quran state that there were other persons with Adam a.s. in his company. He was the leader. There were also enemies, many, and they had a leader too.

  9. People think that Allah took some dust (clay) and made it into mud and like a potter, he formed the mud into the shape of a man. Then breathed into him the breath of life and a man, first man was created…. Such things (ideas) may have come from the bible. It is not in the Quran. That breath was also not the breath of life. It was the breath of guidance.
Suppose Allah made one man like that and suppose that was Adam. Then what happened… It is all fantasy and wrong approach. Quran does not support such things.

Further proof is that at another place, Quran states that Allah created man from the dried, hard piece of clay, having sound (or capable of producing sound if struck). Now we can understand that the idea of making a mold of man is not in the Quran. Mold cannot be made from the dried piece of clay.
It is an interesting subject. Insha Allah more may be written later.

  10. To acquire knowledge is the duty of every Muslim man and woman.

The ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr.

Good as it stands but there is more to knowledge.

It would be better if they plug into wisdom. The Chinese are smart. They recognize that no matter if you live many life times your knowledge will never be enough.
There are so many filters we put up to screen out knowledge.

  11. Maurice Bucaille, a french medical doctor wrote a book.In 1976 Bucaille published his book, The Bible, The Qur’an and Science which argued that the Qur’an contains no statements contradicting established scientific facts.[4] Bucaille argued that the Qur’an is in agreement with scientific facts, while the Bible is not. He states that in Islam, science and religion have always been “twin sisters” (vii). According to Bucaille, there are monumental errors of science in the Bible and not a single error in the Qur’an. Bucaille’s belief is that the Qur’an’s descriptions of natural phenomena make it compatible with modern science. Bucaille concludes that the Qur’an is the Word of God.

May Allah bless his soul for telling the truth to the world.

  12. “Subhanalahe wa be hamdihe subhanallahe he la zee wa be hamdi astagfirullah ha laze wa a tub ilai”

“Asalato wasalamo alaika Ya Rasoolalaha salalahu alai he wasalam”

  13. The Jinn were created before man from smokeless fire (Quran 15:27, 55:15). [The classical Mufassireen explain that the Jinn were upon the earth first for a period of time and they would commit mischief and shed blood. Hosts of Angels were sent to restrain them, punish them and fight them. So the Jinn were defeated and retreated into isolated places]. Then Allah announced to the Angels that he will create man (15:28, 38:71), and place him upon the earth as a khalifah (2:30), and the Angels questioned this saying that will you place on the earth one who will shed blood and commit mischief (2:30). So Allah informed them that He knows what they know not (2:30). So then He created Adam, and He created him from a collection of the dusts of the earth (22:5, 20:55) and water, and formed and fashioned him out of altered black smooth mud (dusts of the earth plus water), from sounding clay (15:26, 55:14) as in his form and appearance, and Allah created Him with His own Two Hands (38:75). Then He breathed into him of His spirit (another created entity) which brought him to life. Allah created Adam in the best form (ahsani taqweem) (95:4). Allah also extracted all the souls from the offspring of Adam and made them testify that He is their Lord (7:172). Allah taught Adam the names of things, and then asked the Angels to name those things. They acknowledged that they did not know (2:31). Then Allah ordered Adam to inform the Angels of those names, which he did (2:33). Allah ordered the Angels to prostrate (and Iblis along with them), and they all prostrated except Iblis (2:34, 38:74, 20:116), who became arrogant and claimed he was made of superior material (Quran 7:12, 38:76).
Here Allah cursed Iblees and expelled him and cast him out (Quran 7:13, 7:18, 38:77-78), and Iblis made his promise to misguide mankind (7:16-17, 38:82). Then Allah created (khalaqa) Hawaa (4:1) from Adam (4:1, 7:189, 39:6) and made (ja’ala) as a spouse for Adam (7:189, 39:6) and informed Adam and his wife to reside in Paradise (7:19, 2:35). Adam accepted the trust (amaanah, to obey Allah) which had been offered previously to the heavens, earth and mountains, which had refused, but man took upon the responsibility (33:72-73). Then Allah informed Adam to beware of Iblis, their enemy (20:117). So whilst Adam was in Paradise, Iblis tempted them to disobey Allah by eating of the forbidden tree, after he swore that he is their sincere advisor (7:21) and he promised them immortality, becoming like angels, the tree of eternity and an everlasting kingdom (7:20, 20:120). So Adam disobeyed, and he acquired words of repentance from Allah (2:37) so Allah accepted His repentance (20:122) and then Allah sent them all down to the earth, making some as enemies to others and stating that earth is their habitation for a while (Quran 2:36, 2:38, 7:24, 20:123).
Then when Adam and Eve were sent down upon the earth, Allah brought forth mankind through them (4:1, 49:13)
Angels and Iblis affirm that Adam is the first human, created by Allah, and Iblis objected that because Adam was created from clay he is inferior. Humankind was not therefore known previously to the Angels or to Iblis. Further, Allah affirmed that the mother and father of all of mankind (Banee Adam) are Adam and Eve who were expelled from Paradise (to Earth) – “O Children of Adam! Let not Satan deceive you, as he got your parents [Adam and Hawwa (Eve)] out of Paradise.” (Quran 7:27), just as we know that all men and women were brought forth from a single soul and its spouse (Quran 4:1).
The above verse clearly refutes Darwinian evolution because Adam did not have any parents. It is clear from the Qur’an that Allah made Eve from Adam, in that he made the first soul (Adam) and from it made its partner (Eve); Quranic statements (4:1, 7:189, 39:6). The Qur’an clearly uses the word khalaqa minhaa (created from self of Adam).
    Another strong proof from the Quran that refutes Darwinism is the following verse;
He It is Who created all things in the best way and began the creation of man from clay, and made his progeny from an extract of despised fluid. (Quran 32:7-8)
Allah distinguished between the creation of Adam and the creation of His offspring. This is a clear reference to the creation of Adam (from clay, fashioned and formed) being unique in that no parents were required, and then Allah made his offspring to arise through an extract of an emitted fluid. And as for Jesus (alayhis salaam), then Allah resembles his creation to Adam’s in the sense that Adam was born of no parents, and Jesus was born of no father. “Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: “Be!” – and he was.” (Quran 3:59)

The Quran clearly states that Isa performed miracles.
“And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], ‘Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah . And I cure those born blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead – by permission of Allah. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.” [Quran 3:49]
The above verse has to be taken in literal manner since no person is born symbolically blind because the Prophet (SAW) said that all people are born in pure innate disposition. Also the above verse explicitly states that Jesus healed the leper and of course leper is a physical disease not a mental or spiritual disease. The verse therefore again proves that the verses of the Quran related to miracles are to be taken literal and at its apparent meaning.
Another miracle regarding the Messiah is his miraculous birth as mentioned in the Quran chapter 3 verse 47. The miraculous birth of Jesus is clear proof in the Quran that Allah (SWT) can change the natural laws of His creation whenever He wills.

  14. Pervez, if you understand the word of All-Knowing God correctly then science and biology should support your claims.

How can an All-Knowing God reveal something, which is not testified, when we look at the world that He created, with precise tools?

May be your interpretation of the Quran is wrong and unknowingly and unintentionally, you are set into your dogmatic thinking, completely disregarding facts, which do not agree with your position:

Here is another article by me about the issues pertaining to common lineage of all life forms, click here.

  15. There are many things Pervez needs to understand. Pervez has done a good effort with references to present a case in which it appears that Allah got hold of some clay (earth matter) and with His both hands (like a potter) Allah molded the clay into the shape of a Man. Then Allah breathed into that man the breath of life….. Then a man, first man was created. That He called Adam. Then his partner was created out of Adam (as explained in Bible OT).
It is surprising to note the words of creation of EvE, in Quran, it is said “Wa Khalaqa MINHA zaujaha”. The word Minhaa seem to point that The partner (zauj) was created from her (from a female) and not from him.
To cut my post short, Quran does not support any of the above ideas. The breathing of spirit and creation of birds has spiritual meaning, nothing physical. I am ready to explain them. In Quran, breathing of spirit is mentioned in walking talking men.
There were many men and women on earth before Adam. Adam (a.s.) was the first prophet. He was given guidance and elevated and appointed by Allah. There were other mankind called Jinn who opposed the supremacy of Adam. Their leader (Iblis) was very pious and grand worshipper. Was under cover. When Iblis openly disobeyed Allah, he was rejected and called Al-Shaitan, an open enemy of mankind.

  16. In my previous post, I had given a general idea. The misunderstanding occurring amongst Muslims is all due to some misinterpretation of verses or due to some Hadith or due to some opinion of old time scholars. Now, I am presenting all the verses of the Holy Quran which pervez had referred.
Case of creation of mankind had been mixed up with creation of Adam a.s. The verses presented below show clearly that first the creation of mankind is described with clay and a promise to breath the spirit into him. The men and women were walking in the world (living bodies). When the spirit was breathed into Adam, it was a spiritual matter. It was done care of Holy Spirit… And Adam a.s. was elevated to a higher status. The mankind was also elevated to a higher status.
Please read the verses (with my short comments) below:
[20:56] From it (Earth) have We created you, and into it shall We cause you to return, and from it shall We bring you forth once more. [This is general information about all mankind.]

[22:6] O people, if you are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then consider that We have indeed created you from dust, then from a spermdrop, then from clotted blood, then from a lump of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may make Our power manifest to you. And We cause what We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term; then We bring you forth as babes; then We rear you that you may attain to your age of full strength. And there are some of you who are caused to die prematurely, and there are others among you who are driven to the worst part of life with the result that they know nothing after having had knowledge. And thou seest the earth lifeless, but when We send down water thereon, it stirs and swells, and grows every kind of beauteous vegetation.
[ This verse is also describing about all mankind ( O, people…). It is nothing to do with Adam a.s. Also please note the words “And there are some of you who are caused to die prematurely”. That is the translation of Arabic word Tawaffa, which is being mistranslated by some scholars to mislead the Muslims that Jesus a.s. is still alive.]

[15:27] And, surely, We created MAN from dry ringing clay, from black mud wrought into shape. [Very clearly, It is the creation of man here and not Adam]

[55:15] He created MAN from dry ringing clay which is like baked pottery.
[38:72] When thy Lord said to the angels, ‘I am about to create MAN from clay,,,
[95:5] Surely, We have created MAN in the best make; [Created man, please note. In above three verses It is the creation of man here and not creation of Adam a.s.]]

[7:173] And when thy Lord brings forth from Adam’s children — out of their loins — their offspring and makes them witnesses against their own selves by saying: ‘Am I not your Lord?’ They say, ‘Yea, we do bear witness.’ This He does lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘We were surely unaware of this.’
[This is something about the children of Adam a.s. Guidance had started with Adam a.s. and the responsibility was laid upon the children of Adam a.s. ]

[2:31] And when thy Lord said to the angels: ‘I am about to place a vicegerent in the earth,’ they said: ‘Wilt Thou place therein such as will cause disorder in it, and shed blood? — and we glorify Thee with Thy praise and extol Thy holiness.’ He answered: ‘I know what you know not.

[This verse shows that there were many men on earth without any spiritual leader. Angels had been employed on the look after of mankind i.e. Jinn or untamed, wild, brute, savage mankind. The angels had seen whatever the Jinn were doing. They spoke against the new plan stating that the new creation will also create more trouble….. more bloodshed…]

[2:32] And He taught Adam all the names, then He put the objects of these names before the angels and said: ‘Tell Me the names of these, if you are right.

[Allah endowed Adam with knowledge and will power, i.e. something which even the angels did not possess……
We know that mankind and the Jinn have the will power for good or bad deeds. Mankind and the Jinn are accountable before God. Angels do not disobey and they are not accountable. They have no will power. They just obey the orders without mistake. ]

Please read the following verses (6:131-132) which show that the Jinn are the same as other men in the world, only aliens or foreigners. They are not any invisible entity.

O, company of Jinn and men! did not Messengers come to you from among yourselves who related to you My Signs and who warned you of the meeting of this your day?’ They will say, ‘We bear witness against ourselves.’ And the worldly life deceived them. And they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers. (6:131)

O, company of Jinn and men! if you have power to go beyond the confines of the heavens and the earth, then do go. But you cannot go save with authority.(55:34)

[7:190] He it is Who has created you from a single soul, and made therefrom its mate, that he might find comfort in her. And when he knows her, she bears a light burden, and goes about with it. And when she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah, their Lord, saying: ‘If Thou give us a good child, we will surely be of the thankful.’
(This has nothing to do with Mother EVE. It is a general statement applies to all of us.)

[49:14] O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female; and We have made you into tribes and sub-tribes that you may recognize one another. Verily, the most honorable among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is the most righteous among you. Surely, Allah is All-knowing, All-Aware.
(This has nothing to do with Mother EVE. It is a general statement applies to all of us.)
[Note: My verse numbers may be one more than verses in non-Ahmadi copies of the Quran. Please Take care.]
    ========================================

  17. Zia Shah your religion is science and biology. you seem to be extremely obsessed with these. Your religion is not Islam, you can call it anything and you have freedom to practice anything as freedom of religion. Your arguments against Parvez show how low your IQ is, how dogmatic your understanding of of science is and how you understand your Quran with deliberate distortion of facts. Your God hasn’t created anything because natural laws or your scientific understanding of DNA would not allow him. The parliament members in Pakistan can change the laws of their constitution whenever they like because they have created them. What of the being that created the universe and set the natural laws in to action? can’t he change them anytime he likes, is it absolutely impossible ? Is not he omnipotent? You can’t compare yourself with likes of Naik, Yahya etc because I haven’t seen any work you’re doing except copying from the work of scientists. …

  18. Muhammad Ishaka thank you for your comment. My God is not ‘science or biology.’ Those are just methods to study the creation of All-Knowing, All-Powerful and All-Wise God.

My God is not short-sighted or contradictory. He does not have to break the Laws, He just created. He knows better than that. As He created the Laws, given His Infinite Nature and Infinite Wisdom, He created infinite ways of accomplishing, whatever He planned in future to come.

See, my concept of All-Knowing God is not petty and myopic. Please read the Crown Verse of the Holy Quran again and again.

Then read the first few verses of Sura Hadeed again and again. God is Al-Baatin. He is hidden and does not work with his physical hands, but, through Laws of Nature, which He created.

Then read a verse of Sura Anaam again and again:

Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware. (Al Quran 6:104)

I believe in God of Infinite Wisdom and Power. But, many make their egos and their misunderstandings as their gods and believe in their “God of their ‘scholars!'”

If God so wills, I can do better than the likes of Naik and Yahya.

If I had started arguing the different interpretations of the Holy Quran, with Pervez, our debate would not have ended during our life times.

But, I have a simple, yet very elegant idea, which is that the ‘work of God,’ this universe, cannot be saying things, contradictory to genuinely understood, ‘word of God.’

With this simple approach, I can keep your “scholars,” who do not understand science, away from me, as I spread the Truth, God willing, through our Muslim Times.

Those Muslims, who do not believe in ‘God of their scholars,’ should feel very happy that by the Grace of Allah, I have built a very powerful argument against the false dogma of Trinitarian Christianity:

Charles Darwin: An Epiphany for the Muslims, A Catastrophe for the Christians

    Peace!

  19. Zia Shah just explain to me your understanding of a single verse among many others that says Allah created Adam from clay(din). How could have clay turned into human flesh, how Neanderthals and Adam are related.

  20. There is Adam, may peace be on him, who was a prophet of God and lived some six thousand years ago. Allah made him a prophet and he was to guide the people around him.

Humans lived for more than 100,000 years before him, if not earlier. The very first human born, who was worthy of being called human, after a certain mutation (DNA change), is also referred to as Adam. The Eve that he married, was a little less than human, or the reverse could have been true.

To understand the concept of first Adam or the first man, let me refer you to a book, by Prof. Richard Dawkins, The Ancestor’s Tale: A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution.

To understand, some of the verses of the Holy Quran, which may give an illusion of creationism, Adam coming from a statue of clay, please review a chapter, The Essential Role of Clay and Photosynthesis in Evolution, in a book, Revelation, Rationality, Knowledge and Truth.
