Islam: Inauguration of the First Charity Clinic in USA on April 12

Source: Lutf Ur Rehman MD, President: Ahmadiyya Muslim Medical Association

Three years ago at the annual meeting of Ahmadiyya Muslim Medical Association of USA, it was proposed that Ahmadi physicians in this country should provide free medical care to those who cannot afford it. By the Grace and Mercy of Allah, Ahmadiyya Muslim Medical Association USA has established the first ever charity clinic in a small rural town of Alabama.

Dr. Younis M. Ismail has spearheaded the project. This clinic will provide health care to all comers regardless of their ability to pay. This project is now ready. The clinic is open to patients and by the grace of God the response of the community is excellent.

The clinic is handling between 8 and 10 patients a day. It is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. In addition to initial assessment and diagnosis, the clinic provides laboratory services such as basic and comprehensive blood tests as well as EKG. Clinic also has the ability to provide X-Ray services, Echocardiograms and many other ancillary services.

Any patients requiring advanced treatment as an in-patient will be admitted to the local hospital. Presently the clinic employs a nurse practitioner who works under the supervision of the physician, as well as a secretary. As the work load increases there is room to grow and expand.

The formal inauguration of the clinic is scheduled for April 12th at 10:00am. City mayor and many other officials will participate in the ceremony. The clinic is located at 302 Main St. Section, AL.

We hope and pray that this clinic would become the first in many more to come. Insha’Allah

  2. Masha Allah, Many congratulations.

Amazing that it is not just Africa, America too needs such clinics.

  3. Mashaallah very commendable action; we do the same here in Burkina Faso & on regular basis we do medical & eye camps where thousands are treated for free . Indeed I think those poor people in the US who don’t have medical insurance can benefit from our free clinic; maybe you should open more in other states also. Allah bless you all.
