“The future of the Islamic world is one of the two defining forces for us in the next quarter century,” she said. “The other is globalization.” Both pose major policy challenges for the United States, she adds.
After 40 years as a foreign correspondent, noted author and foreign policy analyst Robin Wright, says changes sweeping across the Middle East are only the beginning phases of transformations that will also shape the rest of the world.
Much more is happening across the Islamic world than violence and protests, which attract media attention, she said.
