Muslims in India and around the world are condemning the attempts by some miscreants who are trying to illegally build a full fledged Hindu temple along the wall of the world renowned, four hundred year old Charminar monument in Hyderabad city, thereby disfiguring it.
The grand Charminar monument comprising of four lofty minarets was built in 1591 by Sultan Quli Qutub Shah, the fifth king of the Qutub Shahi dynasty that ruled vast areas of present day Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for over 300 years. The Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) recently issued an order to the state government to not allow any construction on the said temple.
Yet, in brazen violation of the High Court order the miscreants have tried to build this temple that they call Bhagyalakshmi temple for nearly sixty years. It is actually a small stone idol on the sidewalk of Charminar, which they have attempted to expand. Now with the help from police and state authorities the miscreants have carried out some construction, like building of the structure of a canopy and walls. What is most regrettable is that the Andhra Pradesh government led by the Congress party has abetted with the miscreants in carrying out the illegal construction.
