The number of blasphemy-related incidents shot up during Zia’s rule, during which 80 cases were reported to the courts compared to only seven such cases reported during the British rule from 1851 to 1947.
This information was revealed in a report titled: ‘Blasphemy Laws in Pakistan; Historical Overview’ launched on Friday by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).
Ahmadis, it was found, after initially being declared a minority in 1974, have suffered the most as a result of blasphemy laws, which were changed by Ziaul Haq. However, those sentenced to death also included Muslim clerics, teenagers and old men, the report stated. Since 1987, more than 247 blasphemy cases were registered or raised, directly affecting the lives of some 435 people.

Well, when ‘only’ Ahmadis were the target, the ‘international community’ hardly noticed it. Only when Christians were also targeted did ‘the world’ start to take notice.
Indeed, Mr. Tschannen, only the Western authorities are doing that for their own agenda and not due to hunanitarian reasons.
Blasphemy law were made by very careful planning by Zia government in accord by mullahs of all kind, because they saw their own prosperous future by making these laws. In first these laws were made only and only for Ahmadis. But as it turns out that every evil action you take it will have its own consequenses. Now this law is effecting christians, Hindus and other sects of muslims. The devil mullah ultimately will get trapped in its own webb. At this time the whole army of mullahs are enjoying the freedom of creating anarchy and religious dark cloud and it very ugly. Even mullahs themselves are not save from its results. Just go on Utube and you will find out all kind devil mullahs using it to defame each other. At the end blasphemy laws will engulf the whole society of Pakistan where the Satan is dancing in open with the help of its helpers the mullahs.
