Makassar (ANTARA) – Ahmadiyah, as a community organization, is ready to build a Learning House in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, this year as part of its commitment to build 100 learning houses to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ahmadiyah.
Amir of the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Muslim Congregation, Zaki Firdaus Syahid, said that Ahmadiyah has programs that contribute to government and non-government organizations, as well as the environment.
“In the education sector, we are committed to establishing 100 learning houses over 12 months and to date, 46 learning houses have been built. The plan is to build a learning house in Jeneponto this year,” explained Zaki during a visit to the ANTARA News Agency, Makassar, Thursday.
This April, Zaki said, the construction of learning houses is planned in Fakfak, West Papua and North Sumatra. Participants in the Learning Houses do not have to be Muslim, but are prepared to increase the insight and literacy of local communities regardless of religion.
“Some of the learning houses we have built, even more participants are non-Muslims. This is because we are focused on educating the nation, without discrimination,” he added.
In addition to the education sector, the Ahmadiyah also has a number of social and health programs, including environmental programs.
Establishing healthy homes, dialysis clinics, and other activities are just a few of the Ahmadiyah health programs found in Garut, Tasikmalaya, Gunung Kidul, and Tangerang.
Another health program is cornea donation, which has received an award from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI). This program has been around since 1985, and currently has 15,000 registered eye donor candidates through the Indonesian Eye Donor Family (KDMI) movement.
“Cornea donation and blood donation have become a lifestyle for the administrators. Every three months, we hold blood drives at Ahmadiyah branches, including during the fasting month,” he explained.
Furthermore, a movement to plant 100,000 trees has been promoted for one year, and to date, more than 50,000 trees have been planted.
