This day last week, the reality dawned on all Ghanaians. The body of our late president was unveiled to start three days of national grief. The shining mourning stars throughout the period were the women of Ghana. They wept with tears flowing freely.
Apart from those relishing moments when the Black Stars of Ghana played competitive football matches home or abroad, I have never encountered any other event that has unanimously brought Ghanaians together for a common purpose other than the death and subsequent funeral of our late president, Professor J. E. A. Mills.
It has been said that women are the best mourners when it comes to funerals. Whether a compliment or not, that fact was not in dispute as Ghana stood still for three days last week to mourn its departed president.
