HUNDREDS of Pakistani Christians have fled their Islamabad homes fearing violent retaliation from Islamic extremists after the weekend arrest on blasphemy charges of an 11-year-old Christian girl accused of burning a Koran.

Police arrested Rimsha Masih, who suffers from Down syndrome, her mother, sister and aunt after an angry mob gathered outside her Christian slum community in Meharbadi, on the outskirts of the Pakistan capital, demanding she be handed over and publicly burned for her crime.
