Another chapter in Nigerian higher education will be opened on 5th February, as Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, inaugurate Minaret University in Ikirun.

The ceremony will mark the commencement of the university’s academic session and the investiture of its pioneer vice chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rahman Abdullah.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, owners of the faith-based institution, confirmed the event through a statement signed by its media lead, Dr Qasim Akinreti. The Amir, Barr Alatoye Azeez Folorunso, will formally present the new Vice-Chancellor.

Minaret University, granted its licence by the Nigerian government last year, adds to the increasing number of private universities in Osun State and across Nigeria.

In a further highlight of the inauguration, the university will launch its first publication, “The Super Powers – Geopolitics of World War and The Pathway To Peace.”

Written by Hafiz Yunus Omotayo, a missionary and journalist with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, the book reflects the community’s global commitment to promoting peace.

The event is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:00 AM at the Minaret University Mini-Campus, located along the Ikirun-Offa Expressway.
