ISLAMABAD: Pakistan needs stricter laws to deal with terrorism, army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said in comments published on Tuesday.

Addressing a parade at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul town, Gen Kayani underlined that the entire world had framed new laws to punish terrorists.

  1. Mr Kiyani, the COAS of Pakistan Army, apparantly your recent views are quite good and speaks of the ground facts. Militancy in any form destroys all social fabrics of any society. However have you ever analysed the reasons for the spread of militancy in Pakistan which to me is mainly on the name of Islam. If you do not know I can tell some startling revelations. If you go back to the period of General Zia UL Haq who was also COAS of Pakistan Army he was the pioneer of this militancy in Pakistan. Fanaticism and extremism on the name of religion started spreading due to his enforced policies. Christians, Hindus, Shias and Ahmadies all became victims of atrocities committed against them on the name of religion. He enacted very cruel anti ahmadiyya and blasphemy laws and gave free hand to religious fanatics to use these laws for their ill will designs. Later his followers in uniform followed the same policy. With in military certain steps were taken to take “PANGAS” with India, Afghanistan, Iran and China. On the name of religion, outfits were motivated to carry out targeted extremist activities in all these countries. On the wrong perception of strategy and security your predecessors in uniform executed numerous such acts. When you took over, you also never tried to change any thing rather you accelerated the ongoing pace. On papers democracy was shown in Pakistan but actually it is you who since many years ruling the country. Except you no one has authority to say any words about foreign policy and security (including internal and external) of Pakistan. Instead curbing militancy you nurtured the militant groups for your self designed aims and goals to be achieved in neighbouring countries. With in Pakistan where ever you wanted, you got your will implemented. Restoration of CJ. extension of ex ISI chief and your own extension are the obvious examples. Any one opened mouth about military atrocities you got him killed. Salim Shazad a very recent victim of ISI. Where ever army got involved you never permitted any one to make honest and real probe. To me, what all wrong going in Pakistan, is due to your policies. If you had wanted a secular and prosperous Pakistan you could have contributed towards it but you remained stuck to your own vision and brought the Pakistan to its current pathetic state. Now just as lip service you mention these words while in your heart you know it is you who is mainly responsible for current state of affairs of Pakistan. Still if you consider yourself real and patriotic son of land of Pure get the cruel policies changed. Army is the only institution which can bring the religious extremist and mullahs under control. But since neither you are sincere with country nor humanity as such will never do so.
