The echoes of ethnic violence in Myanmar have reached Hyderabad as dozens of people fleeing the violence have reached Hyderabad to take refuge.
About 30 families of Rohingyas, as the Burmese Muslims are called, have taken shelter in the old city areas of Balapur, Shaheen Nagar and Hafiz Baba Nagar and have become the focus of attention from several charity and non-governmental organisations as well as the police.
The refugees who walked through the forest areas for weeks to cross into India from West Bengal, have chose to come to Hyderabad because they had some acquaintances in the city among the Burmese who had taken the refuge in the city for the last two years.
The new arrivals have brought the horrendous stories of ethnic cleansing, massacres and burning of their villages by the Buddhist majority with the backing of the Burmese security forces and have found sympathetic ears in the local Muslim community.
In fact, the stories of the ethnic cleansing in Myanmar preceded them as the local media was flooded with the reports of the happenings in the country.
“The fresh round of violence is part of the ethnic cleansing continuing against us in Myanmar for a long time,” said Arafat, one of the refugees. “They have killed our family members and burnt our houses in front of our eyes,” he said.
Noor Mohammed (22), who along with some of his family members fled Buthidaung was worried about his mother and other family members. “They killed my father in front of my eyes.”
The refugees said that on the way they worked as a daily wage workers in different places to make money to reach Hyderabad. “About 50 people were arrested when we were crossing the borders while others managed to enter India,” said Rahmatullah.
The refugees said that the Buddhist majority was forcing the Rohingya Muslims to covert or leave the country. “We opt to leave the country to save our lives and our faith,” said Hamidul Haq, an Arabic teacher. “They have deprived us of all our rights and even religious freedom. They don’t allow us even to call for prayers from mosques or offer namaz.”
The events highlight for the majority of the Muslims that religious freedom is a basic human right, regardless of religion or sect and regardless of whether a religion is a majority or a minority.
Sunnis should have freedom in Iran and Shiites should have freedom in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
It is a relief to know that at east someone gave them shelter, unlike the hearted Bangladesh. May Allah reward them for this kindness. God shows Mercy to those who show merciful to his creature.
How shameful is the character of so called ‘Muslim’ countries! I am controlling my emotions to not to write hateful words and use good vocabulary against Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. But think about it
1) Pakistan and Bangladesh were created to support Muslims! and what they are doing?
Bangladesh how hypocrite are the muslims from this country!
They sent millions of refugees in India who at times create tensions with locals(not too long ago). And disrupt peace and tranquility in India.
And this country is stopping persecuted brethren from entering to its teritory and aid agencies from feeding them?
Global warming will submerge 2/3rd of land in Bangladesh. We will see where these people will go then.
Finally, does not matter how much Pakistanis and Bangladeshis hate India and Indians(Including it’s muslims). It’s a secular Non-Muslim Hindu majority country which is doing this favor on Myanmar muslims that it allowed them to come and settle here!
Do Pakistanis and Bangladeshis have any shame left?
I guess NO
Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in this holy month of Ramzan instead of doing good deeds show steep rise in anti-Hindu violence, especially in Bangladesh. And result are clear Bangladeshi Hindu refugees in India.
The only respite i have is that Allah(swt) will judge conduct of everyone including mine on the day of judgement(if we believe in that at all as muslims!) and no one will be wronged in his court. inshallah!
Ma’salama!
The Pakistan of today is anything but about Islam. Period.
Dear Friends
Before you start talking negative about Pakistan, just keep in mind that How many Aghans took refuge in Pakistan during the Afghan Russia War. Burma has a joint border with India and Bangladesh to come to Pakistan they have to cross whole India but if they can they will be more than welcome.
Yes Pakistan is going through a tough time, the leaders are currupt and the nation is fallen asleep but InshaAllah soon the Nation will rise again, there will be Tipu Sultan, Mohammad Bin Qasim, Sallah Uddin Ayubi reborn in Pakistan and InshaAllah we will liberate whole Islamic world, my words may sound hollow for you now but It is predicted and mentioned in Hadidth shareef and you will witness it InshaAllah that it will be these same Pakistanis who will rescue Indian muslims and the rest of the world.

Being a true well wishers of Pakistan We will say Amen on everything you said. Amen and Amen again. If is happens we will be over joyed.
But I have no idea if Pakistan was specifically mentioned in any Hadith as the liberator of Muslim Ummah. Yes India is mentioned in a Hadith. Hudhur s.a.w once said I feel the smell of Jannah from Hind (Hindustan)” And it was regarding the advent of Mahdi and Isa AS.
Moreover remember it was the same Pakistan that did not allow Behari Muslims to enter Pakistan. Although they stood against the separation of east and west Pakistan. They have been punished and expelled from the Bangladesh into camps for their loyalty to Pakistan. Their third generation is now being brought up in the same camps without the necessities of life.
But many years after they happily allowed Afghan refugees, Allah knows for what reason.
On suchh situation they say, I will change it a little bit,
Jo chaahe in kaa Husn-e-karihma saaz karay
Please think patiently and do not haste to be annoyed.
And Bangladesh. It is not only blocking their entry into the country but also urging the others to stop their aid. What is most annoying it is not ashamed but advocates its stand.
Pakistan need not bother about saving us (Indian Muslims). we are more than happy in our mother India. May be InshaAllah one day we can save our ill fated Pakistani and Bangladeshi brothers. InshaAllah.
