Traffic centre to generate money

The new National Traffic Control Centre is expected to generate revenue for Government if its work goes according to plan. While launching the new centre yesterday, Land Force Commander, Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga said, with this initiative in place, there would be more bookings and awareness on the roads which would generate income for the Government. He said the centre would also maintain the integrity of all the stakeholders as they would be more aware of what was happening around them. “They need not only to be scared but they have to be aware to do the right thing at all times. We confess to be religious people and traditionally obligated in listening to our leaders,” Colonel Tikoitoga said. He said it should not take more police initiative to make this country better. “Our nation is becoming more like a policed unit rather a nation for the people. Government is grateful for such initiative and we are appealing to the public to work together for the betterment of our nation,” he said. Police director traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Mishra, said bad driver behaviour and overspeeding top the record whereby hefty fines should implemented. SSP Mishra said the new centre would monitor their day-to-day work and at the same time enforce their traffic strategies. “We need the people to work together and improve the safety of the people on our roads.” He urged the people to co-operate and help reduce the fatalities on the ro
