AMMAN – Jordanians received the national team’s victory in Friday’s World Cup qualifying match with jubilation, taking to the streets to celebrate.
Jordan defeated Singapore 2-0 in the match held at the Amman International Stadium on Friday, advancing for the first time to round four of the Asian qualifiers to the World Cup (see story page 16).
Early Friday morning, fans were already flocking to the stadium from across the Kingdom.
Mahmoud Abdullah, who had never attended a match at the stadium before, described the atmosphere as “thrilling”.
