DEAD SEA – Jordanians and tourists came together at the Dead Sea on Thursday to enjoy the balmy weather and watch live performances at the opening of Dead Sea Nights.

The event, which is open every Thursday and Friday from 6:00pm to midnight until November 11, includes a variety of musical and dancing shows by Jordanian performers.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the festival aims to encourage Jordanians to vote for the Dead Sea as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, Minister of Tourism Nayef Al Fayez said.

“I am really optimistic that there is a chance for the Dead Sea to win,” Fayez told The Jordan Times in an interview during the event.

The Dead Sea is competing against 27 other finalists to be one of the Seven Wonders of Nature, according to the New 7 Wonders website.

People can vote by sending the words “Dead Sea” in a text message to 94089 or by visiting http://www.new7wonders.com.
