The Monarch also voiced his support for the National Transitional Council (NTC) in its efforts to rebuild Libya and maintain its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
During a meeting with Libyan interim Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril, the King discussed the latest developments in Libya and means to enhance relations between the two countries.
He stressed that the Kingdom will continue to provide humanitarian and medical assistance to the Libyan people to help them overcome the difficult conditions their country is currently facing and to move into a new phase of security and stability.
Jibril briefed the Monarch on the latest developments in his country and the efforts being exerted by the NTC in cooperation with the international community to rebuild Libya.
In remarks to Jordan Television and the Jordan News Agency, Petra, after the meeting, Jibril said the Libyan people are facing challenges in rebuilding their country’s various institutions, restoring security and establishing a national army.
The Libyan official added that he and the King discussed the dispatch of a Jordanian field hospital to Libya, which will be supplied with the necessary medical equipment needed for various specialisations.
They also discussed forming a joint Jordanian-Libyan higher committee to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
Also yesterday, Jibril met with Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, who underlined the Kingdom’s support for the choices made by the Libyan people, according to Petra.
Bakhit expressed hope that stability and security will soon be restored in the country, wishing a speedy recovery to injured Libyans receiving treatment in Jordanian hospitals.
On Friday, Jibril visited Libyan patients currently convalescing in Jordanian hospitals, according to a Libyan doctor in Jordan.
Also on Saturday, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh voiced Jordan’s readiness to put its capabilities at the service of the Libyan people to help their country restore its role in the Arab arena, Petra reported.
