Netanyahu ‘furious’ over Galilee mosque attack

sraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted with fury on Monday after seeing pictures of a mosque in northern Israel which was torched overnight, a statement from his office said.

Netanyahu was “furious” when he saw the pictures of the mosque in a Bedouin village in the northern Galilee region which sustained heavy damage in an overnight arson attack, with the words “price tag” and “revenge” scrawled on its walls.

“The images are shocking and do not belong in the state of Israel,” the statement quoted Netanyahu as saying.

The mosque in northern Israel was torched overnight with slogans scrawled on its outside walls, in what police denounced as “a very severe price tag incident.”

Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told AFP that a number of suspects entered the mosque in the Bedouin village of Tuba Zangaria and set fire to it, causing heavy damage to the carpets and walls.

On the outside of the mosque were scrawled the words “price tag” and “revenge” in Hebrew, Rosenfeld said.
