Prince Alwaleed announces launch of 24-hour news channel next year
RIYADH: Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has announced the launch of a 24-hour international Arabic news channel, which will air from Dec. 12 next year.
“Alarab” is dedicated to Arabic-speaking viewers around the world and will broadcast a range of news programs and features focusing on politics and business.
“Alarab news channel, to be managed by Jamal A. Khashoggi, a well-known Saudi journalist, will be an independent venture from KHC and the Rotana group,” Prince Alwaleed told a press conference in Riyadh on Tuesday.
He said the channel, which aims to tap into the world’s 300 million native Arabic speakers, will focus editorially on the important shifts taking place across the Arab world.
