FAISALABAD: In a suspected incident of hate crime against minorities, unidentified attackers killed an Ahmadi man in Faisalabad late Saturday night. Naseem Ahmad Butt, 55, was shot dead by four men as he lay sleeping inside his house in Muzaffar Colony. According to his brother Khalid Pervez Butt, at about 1am on Saturday, the attackers entered by climbing over the walls.
“The boys were between 20 and 25 years old. Three of them kept a watch on the door as one kicked my brother. When he was awake, the killer said ‘you are Ahmadi and liable to be killed’,” Khalid told The Express Tribune.
The attacker then shot Naseem in the chest while another bullet ruptured his kidney, Khalid said. “My brother was lying in a pool of blood when we saw him. The sound of him crying woke us up.”
A car and a bicycle were used in the attack, Khalid said, and the assailants fled from the main gate of the house.
The family rushed an unconscious Naseem to the Divisional Headquarter Hospital, where he succumbed to his bullet wounds at 8.30am on Sunday.
Naseem, who worked at a power loom factory, leaves behind his widow, four daughters and a son.
Constant threat
According to Khalid, Naseem and other members of their family were under constant threat by a group of extremists who had repeatedly threatened to kill them for their faith.

“My first cousin Naseer Butt was also killed in a similar fashion last year. Police has made no effort to trace his killers and the case has been swept under the carpet by being declared ‘blind murder’,” Khalid said.
PRESS RELEASE:
Another Ahmadi Muslim killed in Pakistan
The Press Spokesman of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Abid Khan said:
“The religious extremists within Pakistan have taken yet another innocent life. What they perhaps fail to realise is that through their actions they are harming the entire peace and stability of Pakistan as a whole. Hatred and persecution of any organisation or group must be condemned by all those who believe in tolerance and love for humanity. Such attacks serve only to destabilise society and to spread discord”
This latest murder continues the trend of Ahmadi Muslims being targeted in Faisalabad. One year ago, a cousin of the deceased, Mr Naseer Ahmad Butt was also martyred in a brutal and barbaric fashion. Furthermore, recently leaflets were openly distributed in the city, stating that the killing of Ahmadi Muslims was worthy of praise and would be rewarded by God. These leaflets contained the names and addresses of various Ahmadi Muslims and it seems that this latest killing was likely motivated by such hate propaganda. FIND COMPLETE PRESS RELEASE:

Do these people have any sense? Are they really Muslims who know what Islam really says and what the Holy Prophet (pbuh), whom they profess to love and obey, really practiced? We, in the rest of the non-Muslim world are finding this extremely disturbing as such actions are giving Islam a very bad name and reputation. Muslims in general really need to educate themselves without the aid of Mullah teachings on the real teachings of Islam. Some of the Muslims of the world even take a warped pleasure when the public becomes very wary of them on finding out that they are dealing with a Muslim. These Muslims seem to think that by having a reputation of being violent is better than being peaceful. What a sorry state of affairs! We are digging our own grave…
