Abou ben Adam (may his tribe increase!)
awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight of his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
an angel, writing in a book of gold.
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adam bold,
And to the presence in the room he said:
“What writest thou?” The vision raised its head,
And, with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered, “The names of those who love the Lord.”
“And is mine one?”said Abou, “Nay, not so,”
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerily still, and said, “I pray thee, then,
Write me as one who loves his fellow men.”
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again, with a great awakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben adam’s name led all the rest.

The fact that Allah loves those who are service minded towards the fellow beings, is mentioned scores of times, in the Holy Quran, for example:
“And as for those who strive in Our path — We will surely guide them in Our ways. And Indeed Allah is with those who are of service to others!” (Al Quran 29:70)

As a little boy I always loved this poem from way back in primary school in the 1950s. Now I am much older and understand present day troubles in the world….. I read the quote from the Holy Quran “We will surely guide them in Our ways” …yes, OUR ways? what if one is a follower of Christ? Very sad really as my belief is that Christ teaches love to all. Still like the poem.
Glad to hear from you. We love Jesus and all our Christian brethren and sisters. The Holy Prophet Muhammad is referred in the Quran as mercy for all mankind. The Holy Quran also says about the Christians:
