Earning the Nobel Prize for Peace

Americans today still live in fear. The collapse of the Soviet bloc and the end of the nuclear arms race made the US believe its absolute military dominion guaranteed its national security.

The Clinton Administration confidently shelved Reagan’s Star Wars programme (the Strategic Defence Initiative). The Russian Bear was dead.

It proved to be a misjudged calculation. On September 11, 2001, the US realised its vulnerability. On that tragic day, America was badly shaken. The country had fought many wars but never before had the enemy hit so deep on its own soil. The Imperial Japanese Navy had come the closest when it attacked the US Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbour. In that attack, 2,350 Americans lost their lives and 21 warships were sunk or severely damaged.

President Obama committed the US to back a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in line with UN Resolution 242 of 1967.

Offering an olive branch to Islam may not guarantee Mr Obama re-election but it would prove to the world that he truly deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.

  1. It is all an inversion of reality as Obama is himself in the same camp as those who organized and profit from the 9/11 attacks.

By the way, Pearl Harbour never was an act of aggression by the Japanese, but was in reaction to provocations by the US, whose government had become keen to enter into the new world war. A memo was declassified which shows there was a plan (interestingly involving also the Dutch) to have Japan make these attacks:

Insist that the Dutch refuse to grant Japanese
    demands for undue economic concessions,
particularly oil. Completely embargo all U.S. trade with Japan,
in collaboration with a similar embargo imposed
by the British Empire. If by these means Japan could be led to commit an
overt act of war, so much the better.

9/11 is seen as the “New Pearl Harbor”, for which there was the desire mentioned in the 2000 paper “Rebuilding America’s Defenses”.

Both these incidents have been acts of treason by influential people in the US government, sacrificing American lives for the sake of going to war. Giving the Nobel Peace Prize to somebody in line with these acts is an insult to peace.
