Staten Island prophet of doom expects to be in heaven for tomorrow’s ‘end of the world’

The Holy Quran says about the Judgment Day, “Men ask thee concerning the Hour. Say, “The knowledge of it is with Allah alone.’ And what would make thee know that the hour may be nigh?”  (Al Quran 33:64)

But Mr. Fitzpatrick predicts the doomsday, not in 1000 years, or in 30 years, but precisely on May 21, 2011, which he read out of Bible …

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Islander who predicts that the world as we know it will end tomorrow at 5:59 p.m. has high hopes for his own salvation.
“I believe that I will be raptured [instantly transported to heaven]; I hope so, I don’t want to be here for the earthquake,” Robert Fitzpatrick told the Advance yesterday.

According to Fitzpatrick and his guru, radio evangelist Harold Camping, that earthquake will engulf the whole world at tomorrow’s appointed time — it correlates with 12:59 a.m. May 22 in Jerusalem — and fire will consume the universe on Oct. 21.

A retired MTA employee from Staten Island believes the world is coming to an end next Saturday — and he has apparently bet his life savings on it.

Robert Fitzpatrick, 60, has shelled out $140,000 on a NYC Transit ad campaign in an attempt to warn mankind of its pending doom, the New York Daily News is reporting.

“Global Earthquake!” The Greatest Ever Judgment Day: May 21,” the ad reads, above a photo of night over Jerusalem and a clock about to strike midnight.

  1. Failed prophecy of second coming of Jesus Christ as stated in the Bible!

He was to come back 2000 years ago and the Christians are still awaiting, note the words, ‘this generation will certainly not pass away.’ Here are the verses from the Gospel of Matthew:

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

    (Matthew 24:30-34)
