AMMAN: The Jordanian government on Monday said it expected the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden would help end the “unjust campaign” against Islam.
“The killing of Bin Laden comes as part of the international anti-terrorism campaign, while his absence will contribute to the ending of the West’s unjust campaign against Islam,” an official spokesman was quoted as saying by the state-run Petra news agency.
“Jordan looks forward to seeing an end to terrorism which did not help resolve Arab issues, foremost the Palestinian issue,” the unidentified official said in the first official reaction to Bin Laden’s death.
“The world community should now work positively to resolve the Palestinian question which is being used as a pretext for Al-Qaeda’s terrorist operations, so that an independent Palestinian state can be set up with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes be recognized,” he added.
