One quality is immediately obvious that they were both liberators of slaves and there are many other commonalities between them, but, today I want to stress their emphasis on human conscience for noble and compassionate living.
President Abraham Lincoln said:
When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That’s my religion.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad said:
Seek the guidance of thy soul! Seek the guidance of thy soul! Seek the guidance of thy soul! The virtuous deed is one whereby thy soul feels restful and thy heart contented, and sinful act is one which rankles in thy soul and which contracts thy heart even though the other people endorse it as lawful.

Interesting comparison of Lincoln and the Holy Prophet Muhammad. I’ll have to talk more to a local Imam so I can get some more serious knowledge of Islam and Islamic principles. I’m conservative and have had big respect for Islam for many years. Can you suggest any resources for a new seeker of knowledge like myself? I’ve lived near a Masjid several times over the years. I just didn’t ever see any “outreach” to bring “non-believers” in for informational sessions. If I had seen such sessions, I’m sure I would have continued to learn and educate myself. Looking forward to any online resources you think are good. Peace be unto you.
for a start please look at http://www.alislam.org. Please look for an Ahmadiyya Muslim Community near you, they will welcome you wholeheartedly.
Abraham Lincoln was a very wise man of this age. He worked hard for his nation and to stand up for truth. As a lawyer, he decided that he will never take up any false case.
He fought for the liberty of all slaves, even went to war (civil war) thereby liberated many Afro-Americans. Imagine the good role played by those ex-slaves (Afro-Americans) in world war II. If they were not free citizens, where would be America today!
The prophet Muhammad (and Jesus a.s.) both had similar tasks, both faced many enemies, both struggled for truth and peace through justice, both suffered quite a lot.(Include Moses a.s. too, in all that). All that is much described in the Quran (read the Ahmadi version of the Quran to avoid many misconceptions).
