Time Magazine’s Cover Quoting a Verse of the Quran about Sanctity of Life

time-coverThe whole verse is in the context of one of the sons of Adam possibly Cane killing his brother Able:

“On account of this, We prescribed for the children of Israel that whosoever killed a person — unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land — it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind. And Our Messengers came to them with clear Signs, yet even after that, many of them commit excesses in the land.”  (Al Quran 5:32/33)

  1. I believe The Nobel Quran is quoting Holy Bible: Muhammad Sarwar translations is as follows:
“For this reason, We made it a law for the children of Israel that the killing of a person for reasons other than legal retaliation or for stopping corruption in the land is as great a sin as murdering all of mankind. However, to save a life would be as great a virtue as to save all of mankind. Our Messengers had come to them with clear authoritative evidence but many of them (Israelites) thereafter started doing wrong in the land.” ……… it was a law for children of Israel.
