CASTRO VALLEY LIBRARY – Interfaith America here hosted Sunday August 28 hosted a panel discussion on ‘ CALIPHATE IN THE LATTER DAYS – an exploration of the reasons of the acts of ISIS in Iraq, Syria and beyond and the possible solutions.

Top San Francisco Bay Area panelists Prof. Abdul Sattar, Prof. Ameena Jandali (both of San Francisco City College, Rabbi Dr. Harry Manoff and Imam Bilal presented their viewpoints moderated by Dr. Hanif Koya. The panelists on being an experts on the subject of Khilafat gave their own takes, however, focusing much on the ISIS operation.

The sum total assessment was that ISIS is weakening and will eventually fade away with all pressure that is being put on them. (Below moderator Dr. H. Koya, Panelists: Rabbi Dr. Harry Manoff, Prof. Ameena Jandali, Prof. Abdul Jandali and Imam Bilal.

In opening the discussion, the moderator a list of terms which he said may be eluded to by the panelists in their presentation. These included: vicegerent, representative, Caliph, Khalifa, Caliphate, Khilafat, Islamic State, Amir Ul Monin, 73 sects in Islam.  Some portions of the presentation is on You Tube, links will be inserted here for your viewing shortly. However, due to the time limit and give the various takes and the panelists not being experts on the subject of Khilafat  much of what was intended to capture, in view of the importance of the Khilafat in today’s Muslim world, could not be achieved. In his summing up, though, the moderator zeroed on the correct verse of the Holy Quran

Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will surely make them Successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear: They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be the rebellious.
