A deranged, 29-year-old American man born in New York, to Afghan parents, killed 49 young men and women at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida. During the killing spree, Omar Saddique Mateen calmly called 911, the emergency line, to declare that he had acted in support of the Islamic State (IS). The Orlando incident was the largest mass murder in recent American history. It seemed to confirm in many Western minds that Islam is a religion that endorses and encourages extreme violence. What will be its larger consequence?
Several serious analysts attempted to answer this question. “Omar Mateen, the Florida shooter who had pledged allegiance to the IS, just ushered Donald Trump to the White House, Britain out of the European Union, Marine le Pen to the French presidency and the world into a downward spiral of escalating violence,” speculated Roger Cohen in The New York Times. This IS-inspired mass killing was followed by the murder in Paris of a policeman and his wife. The French killer of Moroccan descent had spent several months in prison where he proselytised to other inmates.
“Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the presidency, has made no secret of his dislike of Islam and the migration to the United States of the members of this faith. In his apocalyptic speech a day after the Orlando massacre, he pointed to the fact that a single gunman had wrought such havoc. “Can you imagine what they’ll do in large groups, which we are allowing now to come here?” He went a great deal further, repeating his demand for a total ban on the entry of all Muslims in the country until the time, “we figure out what they are up to.” Those who were already in the country should be closely watched, he said.”
Above quote what Trump said. Living in Western Europe for last 26 years, I fully endorse his fears. US and European authorities have full right to ensure peace in their countries and can take all steps for its achievement. After these incidents I have fully been cooperating with authorities for my Pakistani back ground investigations on all airports and full body searches while on travel. I never felt disgraced or little as I am supposed to undergo it due to my background. Of course fault lies with those who are bringing bad name to peaceful religion and to their country of origin.
Instead raising voice against Trump or those asking tighter control for Muslims in the West better peep back in your houses and see what went wrong there. Before 20 to 30 years it was not like this. No one has the courage to uproot the basic causes as all are afraid of religious clerics wrath.
