And how would the Muslim world feel if 44 million Europeans turned up in their countries? I’m sure they would not be made to feel welcome. Why then is it expected that Europe should accommodate all those outsiders, who are culturally completely different and who mostly do not want to assimilate? And whilst I love to visit and see mosques in Muslim countries, I do not want to see minarets in every village in Europe. But that is the way it seems to be going, and it is bound to cause problems. For all the talk of secularism, perhaps it’s the plan to take over and convert all of Europe. Another Ottoman-type empire?
Ottoman type empire? Fine I would say. I lived in Prizren, Kosovo for three years. During the Ottoman Empire the Central Mosque and the Orthodox Church were nicely side by side and the Catholic Church not far away. The Orthodox Church was burned down just recently, after the Serb-Kosovar war (not during the Ottoman Empire). Therefore, yes, I will be happy when Churches and Mosques can be found in every village in Europe. (and if churches are more and more deserted, please do not blame us).
Rafiq – again you’re seeing things only from your own perspective, not from that of the majority of people who would be affected, and who are not as keen as you are. As I said earlier, the Muslim world would not accommodate a similar number of non-Muslims or even any Europeans to settle in their lands, yet it is expected that Europe should have an open-door policy for all to settle in and change the whole culture of those countries. Newcomers seem to take it for granted that they can just walk in and settle without question; that is unrealistic. The situation should have been controlled long ago. Of course, this applies not only to Muslims, there are many others, but Muslims make up the largest number. And it is mostly about numbers.
