An Israeli couple who were gunned down outside a Jewish museum in Brussels could have been killed because of their work with the government, an Israeli newspaper has said. Miriam and Emmanuel Riva were shot dead, along with a French volunteer named Dominique, at the museum in the centre of Brussels’ tourist district. A fourth man, 24-year-old Alexandre Strens, remains in a critical condition in hospital, after being shot in the face and neck.

The brazen attack, on Saturday afternoon, has shocked the Belgiancapital. Investigators are classing it as terrorism, and continue to hunt for the murderer, who escaped on foot.
