Ahmedis are also Pakistani citizens

Source The daily Times via Nasim Malik

Death brings no respite either. In 2012, the tombstones of more than 100 graves were razed by 12 to 15 armed men. The graveyard belonged to the Ahmedi community and the verdict given by the terrorists was that the use of verses of the Quran on tombstones by Ahmedis, who are considered heretics and even entitled to be murdered by extremist groups in the country, is forbidden. Thus, Pakistan is a country where being part of the Ahmedi community means you are not allowed to rest in peace even after you are dead. It is not just extremists but also a large majority of Muslims in the country that believes in a similar ideology. The only difference is that extremists actually kill and persecute members of the Ahmedi community, and the rest of the people make sure that members of this community are socially excluded in every possible manner.

However, is there a ‘new order’? Is there a Saadat Hasan Manto’s New Constitution in the offing? Is there finally a realisation in at least one ministry, in the mind of at least one federal minister, that Ahmedis are also Pakistani citizens and “their plight” is also the responsibility of the state? If this is true, then kudos to Ahsan Iqbal. If it is wishful thinking on my part, then more power to my dreams.

    More or less it is wishful thinking. Over the 40 years the mind set of whole nation has been reformed to anti Ahmadiyya settings. Cosmetic effort by one minister will not make any difference. To me it looks some political move and not for the betterment of this victimized community.

  2. Are the Ahmedis the only minority group which is persecuted in Pakistan? When considering this negative phenomenon, would it not be better for all the minorities to come together and speak with one voice?

  3. Killing for whatever belief one holds is not correct. There is no justification for this. momineen are commanded to fight when attacked. All these attacking Ahmadis are indulging in ‘Kufr’ for the critical verses. Following the verse 4:59, all believers are commanded to obey the Imam of Time Kareem Shah Al Hussaini obeying by 20 million.

  4. @Namelee
    Before commenting it is always good to know the details about each minority and reasons for persecution. Ahmadiyya persecution in Pakistan has no equal in recent history. Jews were vicitms in 20th century. However in 21st century the way Ahmadies have been targetted in Pakistan is unique in nature. So better first make a probe in detail and then comment.

  5. PLEASE do not delete my respond to @ Muhammad Mukhtar Alam, thanks.
    .
    Please do not misinterpret the verse Qs 4:59.
    as following;
    .
    quote-O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.-unquote
    .
    The meaning of Messenger here is imam who lead religious followers.
    The meaning of “Uli amri” or authority is a existing state of authority who lead all people.
    .
    All love
