Bringing Communities Closer in Calgary

Ahmadi Muslim women in Calgary NW organized 1st Annual World Religions Conference at Mount Royal University on Thursday October 24, 2013. The event was co-hosted by the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy of Mount Royal University, Calgary.
The topic of the Conference was “FORGIVENESS & Societal Peace”. Representatives from Aboriginal Spirituality, Christianity, Judaism and Islam gave their perspectives.
Speakers focused on following points and explained according to their Holy Scriptures.
Is Forgiveness an absolute virtue?
Can Justice and Forgiveness coexist?
What do
the scriptures say about dealing with offense in society?
What is more helpful to establish peace in society “Punishment” or “Forgiveness” and how.
What is the concept of “Forgiveness” in relation to God?
What are the means of seeking forgiveness from God?
According to the Holy Qur’an forgiveness is a godly virtue:
“…They should rather pardon and overlook. Would you not love Allah to forgive you? Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Al-Qur’an, 24:22)

Excellent effort by Muslim women to spread the beautiful teachings of the Islam. Islam is the only religion to present the most balanced teaching on Forgiveness, and emphasize the aspect of reformation while choosing between punishment or Forgiveness.
