‘Live Nobly, or Die a Martyr’….or pass the time by bullying a defenceless minority!

I had as usual checked the search engine to see if these harmless dissenters had suffered anywhere this week, but today’s JG report was the first i heard of this, and what’s especially alarming is not the behaviour of sectarian ignoramuses ( we are sadly used to that) but the fact that their malign misconduct appears to be occurring in places not previously blighted by their bigotry.

Firdaus Mubarik, spokesman for the Indonesia Ahmadiyah Congregation (JAI), said the congregation was doing little more than holding regular prayer services. “They only used [the mosque] to pray,” he said. “It had not even been used for Koran study groups.”

But the report is a bit odd. The Sumedang branch of the FPI denied claims they sealed the mosque. “For sure, what has been done by the FPI members was not sealing,” branch chief Muhammad Nur told the local newspaper Radar Sumedang. “Sealing or shutting down [a house of worship] is the authority of the Sumedang district government.”

But then it goes on to quote another white-shirt lout.

“We agree today to fully seal the building that has been used as a house of worship by the Ahmadiyah,” one FPI member told Radar Sumedang.

So they did or they didn’t?

I reckon they did, because they hate religious liberty, and West Java is a rancid cess-pool of bigotry, with a PKS Governor – that’s the party led at national level by a devoted fan of Osama Bin Laden.

“Cases like this in West Java in the past happened in the southern part, like in Cianjur and Sukabumi, but rarely in the north,” Firdaus said. “But then it happened in Kuningan, in central West Java, and now it is moving north to areas that are not really very religious.”
