A son of Jamaat-e-Islami founder Syed Abul A’la Maudoodi believes that the religion-based party should not be allowed to continue politics in Bangladesh since it opposed the country’s birth. In an exclusive interview with the Dhaka Tribune last night, Syed Haider Farooq Maudoodi, one of Maudoodi’s nine children, said parties that opposed a nation’s birth should not have the right to do politics in that country.

Recalls Farooq Maududi, son of Abul A’la Maududi
By Tamanna Khan and Jamil Mahmud
Brought up under the shadows of Syed Abul A’la Maududi, preacher of Sharia-based state in the subcontinent against secular democracy, Syed Haider Farooq Maududi managed to rise above his father’s fundamental ideology.
A strong critic of his father’s Jamaat-e-Islami, the Islamic revivalist party from which Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has evolved, Farooq is now in Dhaka on his first visit here after the Liberation War.
He talked to The Daily Star about his father’s philosophy, party and present politics.. read more

I think, “He is a ‘Black Sheep’ of Maududi family”.
No black sheep. Haider Farooq Maudoodi sahib is telling the truth. There is no harm if he does not agree with what his father had been doing.
Specially now that many of the Maudoodi teachings have been proved to be false, and his teaching has done much damage in the world,,,,
1. Maudoodi sahib’s teaching of violent Jihad, that is proved to be wrong and anti-islamic. He even blamed the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. that he spread Islam by using sword.
2. He did not support creation of Pakistan when Muslims and Hindus were competing hard in Politics. Maudoodi sahib was a political Mulla, a political person but he did not know the need of the hour. So he was zero in politics as he was zero in religion.
3. Maudoodi sahib spent all his life trying to prove that Isa a.s. went alive to heavens and that he has not yet died. How bad??
4. After creation of Pakistan, Maudoodi sahib came to Pakistan from Pathankot, Punjab, India. Very soon he declared his Jama’at Islami (party, which was originally a religious party), he declared it as a political party. Many good men left the party.
5. He said “now that the country has been created, it should be made Islamic country and strict Islamic laws should be enacted in Pakistan.”
6. He was an enemy of Jama’at Ahmadiyah Muslimah
7. He did much damage to the cause of Islam in subcontinent. But he did not succeed in any of his missions.
7. In 1964, he opposed President Muhammad Ayub Khan in Basic democracy elections . Miss Fatimah Jinnah was the leader of the Maudoodi group and Maudoodi sahib accepted her leadership. It meant that a woman could be head of state.
When the media men asked Maudoodi sahib about his accepting a woman’s leadership (which according to many Muslim scholars was quite unislamic), maudoodi sahib replied that it was allowed in islam to accept the lesser evil.
What he meant was that Ayub Khan was the greater evil and Miss Jinnah was a lesser evil. How bad it was to call a respectable lady as evil, and how bad to call his leader as evil!!
8. This reply (formula of lesser evil) was clearly wrong and bad, because when Muslim League and Indian Congress were locked in battle for the Creation of Pakistan, at that time, Maudoodi sahib did not know what was the lesser evil. At that time he kept quiet or sided with the greater evil against Muslim league.
9. I believe that Haider Farooq Maudoodi sahib has been wronged many times during the life of Maudoodi sahib. Haider sahib is a decent person who dares to tell the truth. It is necessary to tell such things because Maudoodi sahib, by his writings and actions, misled many poor Muslims in the world.
10. I trust that Haider Farooq Maudoodi sahib is telling the truth. May Allah bless him with rewards.
he is not the son of hazrat moulana moudodi but son of …
