The new Franciscan revolution

(CNN) — It’s time to stop being surprised by Pope Francis.

Since he became pontiff, he’s made a lot of news. His tweets echo around the world. He embodies principles of humility and piety. He eschews the fancy trappings of office favored by his predecessor, from the Popemobile to the red shoes. He washed the feet of prisoners, including a Muslim woman, on Holy Thursday. He telephones ordinary people who write to him.

In Rome, he called for “revolutionaries” to leave the comforts of their home and bring the word into the streets. In Rio, he told the gathered youth to “make a mess” in the dioceses as they help the church shake off clericalism.

  1. History of religions reveals when teaching of existing religion gets distorted the God sends new messenger. Moses, Jesus as well Prophet of Islam came on the same pretext. If Christianity had followed the commandments of God in letter and spirit there was no need of new religion. To me now there is no other way but to accept the Prophet of Islam and follow the real teachings of Islam. Pope as well other religious leaders have their importance but since living contact with God is lacking in other religions as such philosophies or acts may not bear any fruit. Instead getting annoyed each should ponder on this point that why Prophet of Islam was sent if there was no need to uplift the spirituality of human being. For real teachings of Islam Ahmadiyya Community in Islam is striving hard for 124 years and any one can have more knowledge about it by visiting alislam dot org as well themusllimtimes dot org.

  2. Simple sweeping generalizations hide the obvious question.

What has Islam got to offer?

Murder and killings and sectarian strife in ever country it touches.

No thanks I prefer a Peaceful life in moderation.

    • Dear Mike, after you have been reading The Muslim Times for sometime you should have noticed by now that there are ‘different kind of Muslims’. What about the Community that teaches ‘Love for All and Hatred for None’?

  3. Rafiq I hear you believe me I understand.

Question I have why do you peal off and create a new sect. Thats like trying to reinvent the wheel. Go back and reform the original.

The Catholic Church is the Church of Peter we have been around 2000 years. We may be a leaky sieve of a boat called the Church but we keep going back and back and reforming even despite breakaway groups we keep the faith and share it.

That’s the answer I believe. If you split off you weaken the source. Jesus said I am the vine you are the branches …………….

    • The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, we believe, was started by the command of Allah, to the founder of the Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi. He was commanded to reform the original, but it was necessary to found this community in order to show the difference between us and ‘them’. When you listen to the News today from Nairobi you will see why there is a need to differentiate. I thought that you, Mike, would have got out message by now, as you have been around ‘The Muslim Times’ for a while. (We keep trying to explain…)
