ISLAMABAD: In a day of high drama, former Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf fled from the Islamabad high court on Thursday after it had ordered his arrest in a 2007 case and remained closeted in his farmhouse with police blocking access to it.
The Islamabad high court dismissed Musharraf’s interim bail extension plea and ordered his arrest in the case related to the detention of senior judges, Geo News reported.
Well if he is really arrested it will be a big break through for Pakistan. Efforts will go now only for lip service to save the face of court. Whether serving or retired, until now no one can dare to touch the sacred cows. Unfortunate but is a hard fact.
Musharraf was deceived by his ‘entourage’ that he would have a good chance if he went to Pakistan. Leaders, and it seems even ex-Leaders, must beware of those that tell him (her) only wants they think they want to hear. It could prove fatal – like in this case.
