Heavy Rains: Eighth Death in the Floods in Port Louis

It is the sixth drowned pedestrian tunnel leading to the Port Louis Waterfront. One woman died of a arrêt cardiaque, Great River and a man fell into the stream of Thumb.

The record flooding in the capital burdened with an eighth victim found in the late evening on Saturday 30 March. The first two victims were rescued in the middle of the afternoon this Saturday, March 30, 2013, by the National Coast Guard in the underpass linking the military base at Port Louis Waterfront. This is Sylvia and Jeffrey Wright, the wife and son of former Lord Mayor, Alan Wright. They were aged between 46 and 18 years respectively. They worked in a tobacco shop located in the tunnel at the time of tragedy. The identity of the third victim is at present unknown.
