In the name of Islam?: 47 temples, 700 Hindu houses torched across Bangladesh

Hindustan Times: Islamic activists have attacked dozens of Hindu temples and hundreds of homes across Bangladesh since an Islamist leader was sentenced to death for war crimes last month, a Hindu group said on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, a group which looks after Hindu temples,

said 47 temples and at least 700 Hindu houses had either been torched or vandalised since the verdict against Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

Sayedee, vice-president of the country’s largest Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami, was sentenced to hang on February 28 for crimes including rape and murder committed during the 1971 independence conflict.

The sentencing of Sayedee and other Jamaat-e-Islami leaders has triggered the worst violence in impoverished Muslim-majority Bangladesh since independence, with 85 people so far killed in the unrest.

Kazal Debnath, a vice-president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad, blamed the attacks on Hindu temples and homes on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.

  1. I can give you many verses in the quoran or storys in the hadith which can easily be used to justify those actions. Islam creates constant hostility and separation to all other cultures and religions because of this superiority thinking. Then not much is missing to burn down temples.

    • Really Tarkan. Why dont we start with only one verse to begin with. Send us your translation and interpretation and then we can send you what it “really” means and how it has been distorted to be used by those how are bent on destroying the beautiful face of Islam. Allah’s wrath be upon these people who turn people away from true Islam (Ahmadiyya Islam). Did you bother to take a look at http://www.alislam.org? or do you wish to presist in this Islam bashing without really wanting to change your mind? I am begining to think that you are so proud of your own views that you think your view is superior and so there is no need for you to listen to our repeated pleas that you visit the web page we are requesting and do some heartfelt, unbiased soul searching research on who we are and how we answer your misunderstandings. But then you are not interested in going there or are you?

  2. Abdul i did watch the site. But i really prefer having discussions and arguments with people personally and not just with reading a whole homepage. Unfortunately i now will be for almost a whole month be in costa rica so im not able to answer. I will do that when i am back. I just want you to remind that also many muslims obviously understand their primary sources the way i understood or understand them. Otherwise there wouldn not be so much intolerance and violence in the name of islam. Directly after Mohammeds death Islam was spread by force. Did they also have a wrong perception of islam? I dont think my view is superior but i never read of a critical discussion about quoran or the hadith. So how could i be convinced if this topic which made me leave islam is spared and avoided? I know that you can defend your views about islam also with the quoran or the hadith. But what do you do with all the other verses or storys that contradict your view of islam. You cannot just deny them and only pick out the good ones and dont talk about the other ones. They are still there. And that was my point. I always got told the good storys. And when i asked people about the bad ones they just denied the discussion or the bare existence. That was not very convincing for me. Maybe if would have been born in a ahmadiyya familiy i would have stayed a muslim but im not sure because i believe (maybe you can prove me better) that you cant justify all actions of Mohammed. When im back i give you a verse or a story of the hadith.
