UNITED Airlines has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure a man got to see his mother before she died.

Kerry Drake started sobbing after his flight from San Francisco to Houston was delayed. He had left only 40 minutes connection time in Houston to make his flight to Lubbock, Texas where his mother lay dying.

That morning, Mr Drake had been told his mother was dying after years of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Alarmed, he booked the fastest flight he could find to see her before it was too late.
