Attack on Jalsa Site: Pakistani cleric provoked attackers: Ahmadiyya leaders

The Daily Star: Leaders of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat yesterday alleged that a Pakistani Islamic cleric provoked a group of religious bigots into torching six tents at the persecuted community’s annual convention venue in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir upazila Wednesday evening.

“On February 3, the Pakistani Moulavi [Hanif Zalondhari] and some others delivered instigating speeches against us. After their speeches, a tense atmosphere was created in that area,” said Mobasherur Rahman, national ameer of the community.

He raised the allegations during a press conference at Ahmadiyya Muslims’s headquarters in the capital regarding Wednesday’s attacks.

The Ahmadiyya ameer demanded that the government ensure a fair trial of the alleged attackers and that the community be provided with due compensation.

Amid fear of further attacks, the community has shifted the venue to their central office where the three-day convention will start today and end Sunday.

Mobasherur Rahman said the invited Paksitani Moulavi and others gave speeches at a gathering of Khatme Nabuyyat, which was to oppose the Ahmadiyya national convention.

  1. One can only give sincere advise to Bang la Nation and its government not to follow the footsteps of Pakistan. Atrocities committed against Ahmadies on the name of religion by extremist have almost destroyed that country. Wise people learn lessons from others. Bengalis are considered educated and well polished people. Instead resorting to violence let peace to prevail. In case there are difference of opinion can be resolved with dialogue. Try to bring good name to great religion Islam.

  2. Very right. I wish too that Bangladesh should take heed from the condition of Pakistan.
I have some Bengali friends they are quiet sensible while conversing on the issue.

  3. I also have very good Bengali friends, they are very reasonable. I can say the same for my Pakistani friends, but look at the mullah led crowds and you would think they are wild animals let alone humans.
Like they say, you can’t judge a nation or a country on the basis of a few: good or bad.
The problem lies with the governance, officials taking sides. Religion should be a personal matter, that is where the secular governing comes in. A warning to Bangladeshis: don’t hurt Allah’s jamaat or be ready for the consequenses: refer Pakistan!

  4. Awami League government should not let those Pakistani … go back and must try them along with Bangladeshi JI clerics.

  5. What brother Zubair Khan has said is very right and i also add that Bengladeshi government should bring these Pakistani molvies to justice.

  6. It is painful to note that that it was a pakistani mulla, Hanif Jhalundhary, who instigated the attackers led by JI maulanas to ransack and put the venue of the Ahmadiyya Convention on fire. All this reminds this scribe the comments of an observerthat these Pak.mullah belong to that category of mullah who had migrated to pakistan from the Indian side of punjab and they are very much like the tail of a dog, which will fail in your effort to strait it, even if you spend the whole of your life to make strait dog’s curved tail. One hopes to see that the rulers of Dhaka will do their duty towards its Ahmadi citizen and they will get justice
    done atthe earliest.
