 My name is Ahmad Syed Ahsan. I am Chartered Accountant from United Kingdom and Oxford University Brookes graduate. I have worked as Director in Government of Pakistan and is  associated with The World Bank`s project in the country as a part of various attempts of international organizations to put a chaotic nuclear country on right direction. I would like to draw your attention on a matter where I believe New Zealand Herald should do something which will ultimately works as source of great goodness for the world.

 I belong to worldwide ahmadiyya community which is declared by the Government of Pakistan as Non- Muslim and due to state legislation, we cannot practice our religion in Pakistan and from last 100 years this community is being severely persecuted by the mainstream Muslims, extremist and jehadies and state of Pakistan is equally part of this inhumanity. Since my arrival in New Zealand, I have been reading NZ Herald and noted your organization is almost silent on systemic denial of human rights of Ahmadiyya community by the state of Pakistan. From decades, members of the ahmadiyya community have been slaughtered, massacred and living a life where even moderate people are unable to raise their voice in their favor against the barbarian acts of Pakistani Government and mainstream extremist and jehadies muslims.

 The Governments and media of international world particularly, Australia, Canada, USA, Germany and UK including European Union has been strongly vocal against these crimes and laws against humanity and justice. As I mentioned earlier, the New Zealand Herald have rarely reported or mentioned these incidents which have been reported by mainstream international Medias such as BBC, CNN, RTR, etc. Can anyone imagine desecrating the grave of an opponent (died off course) in this world today but it happened in Pakistan and over 100 ahmadi graves have been desecrated in Lahore the second largest city of Pakistan yesterday. To my shock, Non even a single media reported this incident . I want to know why New Zealand Herald is silent on these barbarian acts?  

 What I know, being the largest newspaper of the nation, the NZ Herald should report these incidents so that New Zealanders can raise their voice in favor of a peace loving community, the community who has Moto “LOVE FOR ALL, HATRED FOR NONE” and its very existence is at severe threat from terrorists who are the most dangerous element working to implement their own agenda on earth and are against the peaceful ways of life.

I request you to break the silence and start to report and talk against brutalities of Government of Pakistan and mainstream jehadies of the country. The gradual talebanisation of the nuclear state could be so disastrous for global peace, harmony and security of the world.   I humbly request that do not undervalue the mindset and armed skill of jihadists and fundamentalists Muslims of Pakistan. This has been developed and obtained over the span of last 30 years during Afghan Jehad and assisted by the armed forces of nuclear state of Pakistan through all government machinery, intelligence support and even power of legislation. Had international community did not take appropriate and timely steps; it could be so fatal for security and peace of the world including 3 million ahmadies in Pakistan who are only hope of the world for Islam as a peaceful religion.

 I would like to remind in words of Edmund Burke (1729-1797) that

 “THE ONLY THING NECESSARY FOR THE TRIUMPH OF EVIL IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING”.

So this is the time to stop these barbarians and as a first step, please  report these incidents of ahmadies so that New Zealander can condemn these inhuman things in Pakistan. The New Zealand is representing a civil world a single voice of any New Zealanders means us a lot. Media plays a role of eyes and ears of nation and it should not close its eyes and ears for the sake of knowledge of nation. 

 So instead “Do Nothing” I request to do “Reporting” of these coward acts so good people can Do something (even a word of favor) for the existence of my community: a Community which is only Hope for harmony, peace and security and essentially a bridge for Islam and other religions of the world.  I request that you verbally and openly stand up against these horrendous and cowardly atrocities that have occurred, and unfortunately continue to occur. Even if you do not agree with Ahmadi’s or even a community within Islam, do this for the sake of humanity, for the sake of the rights of a human being and for justice. please do note that the Ahmadia community has been one who’s mere existence is based on the vital role of peace and tolerance by showing the true face of human word. The motto “love for all, hatred for none” plays a pivotal role in the lives of every Ahmadi; we do not believe to fight back with guns and bombs but with tolerance and respect. We speak out against all that is wrong and unjust and request those with a voice and the ability to do so as well
