The other way round: Cow kills man … on Eid-ul-Adha

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A panicking cow killed a Palestinian man who was trying to slaughter the beast on Saturday during the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha, a Gaza health official said.

Muslims around the world slaughter sheep, cows and goats during the four-day holiday that began Friday to commemorate the sacrifice by their Prophet Ibrahim — known to Christians and Jews as Abraham.

But accidents are common as people frequently buy animals to slaughter at home instead of relying on professional butchers. The festive atmosphere surrounding the site of the slaughtering also tends to make the animals fidgety.

In addition to the death, Gaza heath official Ashraf al-Kidra said that 150 other people were hospitalized in the Gaza Strip with knife wounds or other injuries caused by animals trying to break away.

  1. This horrible episode makes a frightening reading of unthinkable act of a sacrificial cow doing a very natural act of saving her own life by kicking the man to death who was intending to knife down the cow to commemorate the great example of the holy Prophet of all the prophets of God, obeyed the will and order of God Almighty and the ready willingness of his son Hzt. Ismael by his lying down on floor and asked his father, prophet Ibraheem, for immediate knifing his neck for sacrificial purpose as desired by God. Alhamdolillah, both the father and the son succeeded in their divinely test of God.
But one could only express sympathy with the family of the Gaza victim and pray that such an incident is never happens again. And in order not to repeat such a frightening act, one would like that our Ulema and experts suggest the ways and means that on Eid day our city roads and children play grounds are not turned into the brute, red slaughter houses. The idea behind this request is that the holy days of Eid-ul-Adha must give a normal day look of a Muslim society, nothing more, nothing less.
