CHAOTIC situation ensued on Friday afternoon in Mbagala area, Dar es Salaam leading to destruction of three churches, (Anglican, Seventh Day Adventists and Pentecost), vehicles including that of the District Police Commander (OCD) and stealing of church choir musical instruments.
The mayhem was reported to have been started by a group of individuals said to be Muslim believers who reacted in opposition of a childish act by a boy said to have urinated on the Holy Quran.
Clarifying on the incident, the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Suleiman Kova said it all started when a 14 year old boy in Chamazi in Temeke district on the outskirts of the city joked with a Christian age mate.
“It was on Wednesday when a boy coming from a Madrasa lessons met a friend at a jobless corner, where they usually meet for recreation. The boy was holding the Quran and said to a friend that if you urinate on this book you will turn into a cat or a snake immediately. They boys agreed to put it into a test. He urinated but did not turn into any strange creature,” Commander Kova explained.
