Get well Malala, and find another home, because we can’t protect you

The Express Tribune: by Ayesha Siddiqa.

Just as we thought that the attack on Malala Yousufzai had helped build a consensus on fighting terrorism, the debate is being twisted fast enough to block any movement towards consolidating opinion against the Taliban and jihadis. Some media people are even asking questions about why should the government react to the attack on Malala when young girls are being attacked every day. Such presenters/media persons completely miss a vital point. Malala became noticeable due to the stand she took to protect her right to education. This makes her different from many who suffer or die in silence.

……..Sadly, besides giving her titles we will not do anything. Instead of taking a firm decision to counter terrorism, we seem ready to surrender the initiative to Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Fazlur Rehman or Imran Khan, who see this as a conspiracy to attack the lovely Taliban. The government also didn’t intend to do anything as it presented a resolution in the National Assembly for a military operation in North Waziristan that it knew fully well will not see the light of day.

  1. It is pathetic. Pak. Political parties, Government, Military and Supreme Court are with Taliban or afraid of Taliban. No justice prevails in Pakistan. No security by the military is provided by the military. No authority of Government exists any more in Pakistan. All or most of the politicians are for sale commodity in Pakistan. So young girls like Malala, noble people and innocent citizens will be slaughtered continuously in Pakistan.

  2. Canada should extend her the immigration, i am sure she will be well protected here as she is in grave danger in her own country. I will be willing to sponsor her. Perhaps by getting a Nobel peace prize next year, she will bring honor to Canada. Malala is an international citizen, people like her asset to humanity. God bless her and give her speedy recovery.

  3. Why should Mala leave her mother land for which she has shed her blood; for which she put her life in danger. She is a brave girl and loves her home swat and and her fellow school girls who are equally in danger. There are Kainat and shazia and many more like them. How many will you recommend to leave Pakistan. If Imran Khan, Maulvi Fazalur Rehman and Muawar Hassan do not recommend an operation in Wazirstan, they should give personal guarantee to protect our National Hero Malala. Why should she earn a nobel prize for canad as suggested by Virk Sahib. She must follow the foot steps of Dr. Abdus Salam Sahib, who went to collect his nobel prize in Pakistan national dress.
