Pakistan: In twist, Muslims accused of blasphemy

Source: TOI:

KARACHI: Pakistan’s blasphemy laws may be used to punish Muslims suspected of ransacking a Hindu temple, an intriguing twist for a country where harsh laws governing religious insults are primarily used against supposed offenses to Islam, not minority faiths.

  1. Under blasphemy laws, Mullah can and often does mischevious things and frames concocted allegations against any minority sect or faith and can manage punishment by pressurizing judges and lawyers. For instance, in order to score personal gain if a Mullah notices the smoke coming out of one’s house or place of worship of the minority sect, he will start, at once, hue and cry that the holy pages of this or that Islamic book are being burnt intentionally to defame Islam and calls his followers to come out of their houses to attack the alleged violators under blasphemy laws. Such mean mentality is most visible in Punjab because of the arrival of a particular type of Mullah from Indian side of East Punjab. Pray that God may save the innocent believers and followers of true Islam, from the clutches of such evil-doing Mullah. Ameen.
