Tens of thousands of rioters left a trail of destruction in southeastern Bangladesh as they torched Buddhist temples and homes near the town of Ramu. The violence was sparked by a photo posted on Facebook that allegedly insulted Islam.
A 25,000-strong mob set fire to at least five temples and dozens of homes throughout the town and surrounding villages after seeing the picture, which they claimed was posted by Uttam Barua, a local Buddhist man, AFP reported.
The group chanted “God is Great” while setting fire to the centuries-old temples.
“I have seen 11 wooden temples, two of them 300 years old, torched by the mob. They looted precious items and Buddha statues from the temples. Shops owned by Buddhists were also looted,” local journalist Sunil Barua said

This is very bad news and does not bode well for any of the parties involved. We need much greater restraint in our Global village. Actions in one part of our village have ramification in other parts of our planet earth.
A very painful posting. Shame on 25 thousand Muslims, oh! sorry not Muslims, actually the rioters/antisocial looters/bad character elemints, who had an inner, concealed darkest heart-desire to loot the precious things of the local Bhuddhists by burning, Oh! my God, the most unthinkable, in-human, brutish,uncivilized act of looting/burning eleven temples, three of which were 300 years old and also doing the target/aimed act of looting the shops and houses of the innocent peaceful, peace loving Buddhists living in villages of the Southeastern Bangla Desh Town of Ruma. All these devilish acts can not be thought of or done by the trut believers in Islam, but the looters/rioters have done these devil-like acts, merely on the excuse of seeing a photo on a Facebook of a local villager/resident, and by calling it an insult to Islam, the most peaceful religion of ‘Aman-o-Salamati’, for whole of Humanity, till the day of Judgement but these looting Muslims, started their devilish, evil acts of looting shops and burning the houses of the poor Bangla Deshi Bhuddists, the followers of Hazrat Buddha, one of the oldest prophet of God.This is a very painful and heart-rendering episode, alas! from a Muslim majority country of Bangali roots,the rioters were found cutting its own roots for total self-destruction. Here I would request all the kind-hearted people of Bangladeash, please come forward and do your duty to help rehabilitate the ruined citizens at the earliest and also start the reconstruction work of the destroyed local Bhuddhist society and civilization.
It is indeed a very sad future for Bangladesh. They are running out of minorities to torch. After the liberation in 71, there were 30-40% Hindu population which is now below 5%. Buddhists are less than 1%. Similar ethnic cleansing took place earlier in the decade against the Hindus. The .01% Ahmadi Muslims have already repeatedly been under fire, their rights trampled. One can only assume, it is only a matter of time, before this rage is directed at each other, when there would be no minority left. The moderate voices and think tanks of Bangladesh, time to wake up…
and of course there will not be peace when there are no minorities. The majority will fight each other.
